Job Description:

We are seeking a Bacterial Immunology Lead Scientist to conduct basic and applied research on specified bacterial threats in support of the BD and infectious disease program. The Lead Scientist will work in BSL-3 laboratories and must hold and maintain BPRP status.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Conducting research on bacterial pathogenesis and the host immune response.

  • Designing vaccines and therapeutics.

  • Performing various assays such as ELIspot, Luminex/Magpix, and ELISAs.

  • Planning and assisting in animal experiments.

  • Analyzing animal immune profiles.

  • Preparing labs for safety and regulatory inspections.

  • Managing laboratory equipment and inventory.

  • Providing scientific support and reporting.

  • Presenting research findings at lab meetings and scientific conferences.

  • Preparing scientific papers for publication.

  • Attending and contributing to division meetings.

  • Completing quarterly and annual progress reports.

  • Analyzing data, preparing graphs, and writing lab notes and reports.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Ph.D. in immunology or vaccinology with significant research experience (10+ years post-degree).

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Must pass NACI background check.

  • Must be willing to work in a BSL 3/4 laboratory.

  • Must be eligible to enroll in the BPRP and CS-PRP programs.

  • Expertise in bacterial pathogenesis and host immune response.

  • Proficiency in designing vaccines and therapeutics.

  • Experience with assays such as ELIspot, Luminex/Magpix, and ELISAs.

  • Strong background in planning and conducting animal experiments.

  • Ability to analyze animal immune profiles.

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent management skills for laboratory equipment and inventory.

  • Strong scientific reporting and presentation skills.

  • Proven track record of preparing scientific papers for publication.

  • Ability to contribute effectively to division meetings.

  • Experience in completing detailed progress reports.

  • Strong data analysis, graph preparation, and lab note/report writing skills.

Salary Range:

$128,700.00 - $231,700.00
