Eaton is seeking a Protection & Control Senior Engineer who will play a pivotal role in shaping the electric grid’s future. Your role is crucial in harnessing high-tech embedded control platforms to bring to life the protection and control requirements necessary for the grid’s evolution. This position will be a hybrid role based out of our Franksville, WI facility.

Relocation within the continental US/PR is available!

The expected annual salary range for this role is $85500.0 - $125400.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

You will engage directly with both internal teams and external partners to devise protection and control solutions that range from standard offerings to custom-made creations. Moreover, as an early user of our proprietary control platforms, your feedback will be vital in refining their functionality and guiding their development.

Your position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in the creation of innovative high-tech products, to offer support to electric utilities grappling with real-world protection and control issues, and to deepen and disseminate your expertise in the technologies that are pivotal to the power grid’s digital transformation. Your work will encompass the application of both standard and graphical programming techniques to solve power system protection and control challenges. You will also play a supportive role in product development and testing, ensuring system functionality is up to par.

Furthermore, you will be sharing your valuable knowledge and experience by delivering training and collaborating closely on projects with varying degrees of complexity and scope. By leveraging state-of-the-art tools and testing equipment, you will simulate, test, and confirm the efficacy of protection and control functions. Your contributions will also extend to the development of solutions that meet industry standards, and you will have the chance to give back to the industry by participating in the creation of these standards.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in power systems, protection & control, or logical programming

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Power Systems Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Two or more years of experience in logical programming

  • Experience working with medium voltage power distribution system IEDs, such as protective relays, recloser controls, or other related protection and control devices

  • Knowledge of modern utility automation and protection schemes

  • Experience in power systems protection, coordination, design analysis or relaying

  • Experience in PLC programming, digital logic, combinatorial logic, or use of IEC 61131 programming languages
