Bee Sweet Citrus Assistant Director of Harvest in Fowler, California

About Bee Sweet Citrus, Inc. Bee Sweet Citrus – a family owned and operated company – is located in Fowler, California. The facility, which is over 406,000 square feet, sits on 36 total acres adjacent to CA Highway 99. Our packing facility currently has five pack lines, three bagging lines, and has the ability to run over 3,500 bins of citrus per day. Our state-of-the-art optical graders and sizers allow us to sort citrus with precision, and our Laser Brix system (sugar content scale) allows us to sort citrus by sweetness. With 13 weighers and 28 bagging machines, we have the ability to bag over 32,000 bags per hour.

The facility also features 31 “degreening” rooms and a 63,000 square foot cold storage facility, allowing us to store over 280,000 cartons of citrus. Bee Sweet’s shipping department ships an average of 125 trucks daily throughout the United States, and overseas through export. Our 11,000 square foot office complex is also on site and sits adjacent to our packing facility.

Responsibilities & Duties

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee grower relations and interactions; field calls from growers and communicate issues with Management.

  • Provide harvest history, pool returns, work up grower advances and relay harvest request to Field Management.

  • Maintain export compliance reports and work with all growers to attain the necessary back up for crop protection applications.

  • Maintain all compliance regarding harvest including ACP compliance and transportation documentation.

  • Responsible for daily receiving and verifying all fruit is correctly allocated to the correct grower, field, and lot number.

  • Review and ensure that all contractor bills are correct and are being charged to the correct grower, field, and lot number.

  • Review harvest charges prior to pool closings to ensure all charges are properly allocated.

  • Review all changes to the crop comparatives and track overall change by variety. 

  • Provide weekly up to date trends showing projected final numbers for each variety while spot checking field estimates to support your hypothesis.

  • Provide growers with harvest information for government programs (CFAP).

  • Track all production, harvest, and packing costs to maintain a database to develop per carton pricing strategies for sales.

  • Maintain grower harvest and packing contracts to ensure they are all up to date and ensuring that all necessary information is included.

  • Maintain FLC and hauling contracts, ensuring all have up to date insurance and licensing.

  • Monitor fruit through production and comment back on Field Evaluation Log.

  • Coordinate and assist with special projects.

  • Ability to work as required to meet operational needs, which include starting mornings at Bee Sweet Citrus headquarters.

    Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of farm management/leadership experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business or AG related fields

  • Bilingual in Spanish is required

  • Citrus experience is required

  • $100,000 - $120,000 annual salary DOE
