Fort Worth, TX company is seeking a Infrastructure Database Principal Engineer to join their team for a contract to hire opportunity.
Leverage the latest technology to solve business problems in a collaborative environment at this Fortune 500 transportation giant. Top technical resources are retained on long-term contract engagements.
Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase better.
Contract Duration: 7 Months
Required Skills & Experience
7 to 9 years of Database Administration experience. with any of the database management systems (Microsoft SQL Server, DB2 LUW, Oracle, PostgreSQL etc.).
5 to 7 years experience working with large database / large scale projects.
3 to 5 years of experience with cloud-based database technologies (Azure SQL, Azure SQL MI, Azure SQL for PostgreSQL.
1 to 3 years experience with NoSQL database systems (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, Neo4j, Neptune etc.).
Familiarity with Microsoft DevOps and PowerShell scripting.
BS/BA in Computer Science or related field
Advanced SQL Server Administration
2 years experience with PostgreSQL and 1 year NoSQL
Desired Skills & Experience
Azure certifications
Familiar with Kubernettes, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
What You Will Be Doing
Plan and implement database designs, including the creation and maintenance of cloud databases.
Allocate resources such as Storage / Compute / Memory. Implement strategies for HA, Failover DR and Replication.
Fine-tune database systems to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability - including monitoring and optimizing database query performance, indexing etc.
Establish access and authentication controls to secure data, setup encryption, masking as required.
Manage and monitor performance, security, and availability of databases.
Implement database backup and disaster recovery procedures.
Work with development teams to optimize database usage and query performance.
Coordinate and manage migration of databases to Azure platform.
Perform capacity planning and demand forecasting for database systems.
Identify and troubleshoot any database-related issues in a timely manner.

Stay current with the latest Azure technologies, trends, and techniques.
Will be the lead engineer for Cloud Databases
