Parkview Health Supervisor Public Safety Comm in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Summary

Under the direction of the Public Safety Communications Manager, this role supports the organization, implementation, and development of Parkview Public Safety dispatch operations, ensuring effective police and public safety services across Parkview Health. Responsibilities include assisting in the development of emergency dispatch programs, policies, and procedures for handling both emergency and non-emergency situations. The position collaborates with Parkview Health leadership and local police and fire communication services to deliver world-class support to Parkview facilities.

This role supervises a team of public safety telecommunicators, managing scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and personnel matters, including disciplinary actions and conflict resolution. Additionally, it serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for the "Respirations Have Ceased" (RHC) process, overseeing implementation, adherence, and procedural accuracy for RHC incidents, including fetal demises and products of conception. The role also involves monitoring and reviewing RHC incidents to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Education

  • Associate’s degree preferred.

Licensure/Certification

  • Emergency Police, Fire, and EMS Dispatch Certification required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.

  • IDACS certification from the State of Indiana and NCIC certification preferred; required when Parkview Police becomes an independent terminal site.

  • Ability to obtain Assistant IDACS/NCIC Coordinator certification when Parkview becomes an independent terminal site.

  • ICS 100, 200 & 700 certifications required within six (6) months of hire.

Experience

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in communications/dispatch, with a focus on public safety.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Other Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Advanced computer proficiency, including Excel, Access, and report generation.

  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.

  • Must be capable of responding to emergencies and providing on-call support as needed.
