About the Position: The incumbent will be assigned to the 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Transportation Division, at Fort Moore, GA. Responsibilities Forwards appropriate advance documents to other transportation offices for movement of property both overseas and within the continental United States. Prepares vehicle worksheet providing special location codes, vehicle description, and any special handling requests. Performs pre-audits on contractor invoices/bills to ensure accuracy in rates, service, and authorization. Determines entitlements or procedures related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances; prohibited items; and shipment of personal property including various methods available. Processes correspondence, official orders, and applications to move property from residences and non-temporary storage. Determines the most efficient and economical rates and routes for shipment and/or storage of household goods, unaccompanied baggage, personal effects, and/or mobile homes. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Using automated systems to manage transportation services; 2) Coordinating with transportation personnel to ensure smooth shipments; and 3) Preparing documents for shipments/transportation related activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Information Management Technical Competence Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
