System One Food Scientist - Research and Development in Fort Mill, South Carolina

Title: Senior R&D Food Scientist

Location: Fort Mill, SC

Type: Full Time, Salaried with benefits

Schedule: Monday-Friday Day Hours

Overview:

Privately owned Company is seeking an experienced Food Scientist to join their team! In this role, you will be provide scientific and technical knowledge

Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects from concept through commercialization.

  • Develop, modify, and cost-optimize seasonings and food products according to project requirements.

  • Address technical challenges related to flavor development, food applications, and delivery systems.

  • Duplicate existing market products, seasonings, and flavors.

  • Conduct basic product analyses such as salt, moisture, pH, and granulation tests.

  • Keep detailed and organized records, formulas, and data for each project.

  • Perform sensory evaluations of project work.

  • Participate actively in R&D and cross-functional business team meetings.

  • Apply advanced knowledge of customer products and processes to projects and team discussions.

  • Write and interpret reports, research records, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Communicate and present information, products, and ideas effectively to stakeholders.

  • Provide scientific and analytical expertise to internal and external customers.

  • Develop and contribute to intellectual property.

  • Evaluate new ingredients for sourcing, costing, qualifications, and specifications.

  • Guide Jr. Scientists, technologists, technicians, and operations staff.

  • Stay updated on new food trends, technology, and processes, and make recommendations.

    Requirements:

  • B.S. in Food Science, Food Engineering, or related Applied Sciences

  • 5-8 years’ experience developing and formulating food related products and ingredients.

  • 1+ years' experience in meat science and commercialization in processing plants.

  • High degree of proactive thinking, great organizational skills, strong communication, and presentation skills.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft-based applications.

  • Ability to quantitatively write and review technical procedures and regulations.

  • Must be able to accurately taste and smell flavor profiles and food products.

  • Must be able to mix and compound seasoning blends and flour bases.

  • Great communication skills, will be interacting with clients
