What does the Food Service/Mess Attendant Supervisor do?

The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for performing food service and custodial-related duties, supervision of the crew(s), scheduling of crew(s), minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.

What would my supervisory essential job functions be?

  • Supervises food service employees in various locations throughout the building.
  • Uses customer service skills, to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials and all members of the public.
  • Responsible for organizing, planning, directing, staffing, and controlling the operations of the facility.
  • Responsible for maintaining the goals, standards, and objectives of the facility as well as obtaining and maintaining the goals, standards and objectives of the company.
  • Coordinates work schedules to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance and care of the buildings and offices.
  • Coordinates workflow charts on projects to meet short and long-term goals.
  • Oversee the ordering of inventory of the facility.
  • Trains, supervises and evaluates assigned custodial/mess staff.
  • Trains staff in proper chemical and equipment use and maintenance.
  • Responsible for the security of designated locations.
  • Opens and closes locks and unlocks facilities as needed.
  • Keeps records of work completed.
  • Responsible for the collection of recycling bins located throughout the facility and distributed to the recycling center.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of this role.
  • Performs food service and custodial duties.
  • Clean and care for buildings and facilities in order to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthy manner.

What would my non-supervisory essential job functions be?

  • Clean all food service areas required in the contract
  • Mop tile and concrete floor areas
  • Dust all furniture and fixtures as required
  • Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, hand dryers and fixtures
  • Clean all mirrors
  • Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed
  • Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans
  • Place garbage in outside storage bin
  • Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware
  • Cleans all required food service spaces, serving lines, food service display cases, food dispensers, food service equipment, cleaning equipment, and all other areas required in the contract.
  • Wash all finger marks from walls, doors, hardware nd glass
  • Clean break room sinks and counters
  • Report damages and acts of vandalism
  • Wash and buff floors with floor polisher
  • Wash entrance and exit floors
  • Clean walls and toilet partitions
  • Maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner in order to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
  • Secure storage areas
  • Ensure cleaning materials and supplies are stored in a safe and orderly manner
  • Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials and supplies
  • Restock materials and supplies
  • Make note of the need for equipment repairs
  • Perform other related duties as require

Education
High School (preferred)

Experience
2 years: Supervisory experience in a related field (preferred)
