University Advancement Engagement designs and delivers the donor experience at CSU . As the central team with responsibility for donor relations, stewardship, events, and marketing/communications, we provide comprehensive, strategic engagement opportunities that increase Ram Pride, strengthen donor and alumni connections to the University, and inspire philanthropy at CSU . Position Summary

The Engagement Analyst is a full-time administrative professional position within the Division of University Advancement and the Unit of University Advancement Engagement. We are seeking an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proven track record utilizing a complex relational database and managing data in a customer-centric and fun-loving environment.

The Engagement Analyst (EA) works with members of the University Advancement Engagement ( UAE ) team and Advancement colleagues to produce, analyze and interpret data. The EA also offers direction around appropriate populations for donor and alumni communications, the event registration experience, and the ways in which the Advancement database can be enhanced, updated and manipulated to improve both the guest and the internal user experience. The EA plays a lead role in evaluating the effectiveness of projects performed by the University Advancement Engagement teams, at both the project and the portfolio level.

This position reports to the UAE Marketing Communications Strategist and works collaboratively with team members and colleagues from across University Advancement.

This position will infuse diversity, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of their work in order to contribute to ensuring donors, alumni, and staff members of all backgrounds feel represented and included.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university by hire date.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an institution of higher education OR equivalent experience in a complex organization such as sales, banking, business development, client management, or marketing.

  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends

  • Demonstrates active engagement and support of diverse individuals, opinions and perspectives, and actively engages with and supports the university’s mission, vision and values.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience working with SalesForce database.

  • Experience working in Marketing Cloud email platform.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to successfully identify and build relationships and connect donor/client interests with opportunities in a complex organization

  • Demonstrated knowledge of facets of fundraising, such as annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, stewardship, major gift fundraising, etc.

  • Ability to problem solve and adapt to rapidly changing situations and successfully manage multiple complex projects from start to finish

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with academic and administrative leaders in a collaborative environment to conceive and implement innovative ideas

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working in a CRM or other relational database such as Advance or Raiser’s Edge

  • Devise strategies for the production, development and dissemination of specialized reports for Advancement partners and colleagues.

  • Analyze and assess key trends, formulate conclusions and provide summary analysis for UAE team members and other colleagues.

  • Utilize critical thinking, available data and reporting functionality to evaluate the effectiveness of University Advancement Engagement efforts, both at the project and the portfolio level.

  • Identify, assess, and advocate opportunities to optimize and enhance existing processes for the benefit of all users.

  • Proactively identify and confirm inaccuracies by amending processes and reports to ensure correct data is captured efficiently and optimally presented.

  • Consult with and educate colleagues across the division about questions/issues/projects related to the creation and management of ad hoc communication lists

  • Work collaboratively with the University Advancement Engagement ( UAE ) leadership team to determine priorities and communicate/coordinate resources in alignment with wider department and University goals.

  • Approach systems reporting and analysis with a lens of inclusion; consider how reports can be as inclusive as possible and recommend any system changes that can assist in doing so.

  • Make recommendations to Advancement partners and colleagues about how to determine the most effective and efficient populations to include in strategic communication, solicitation and promotional initiatives. Help partners consider inclusivity when advising on report creation.

  • Collaborate with Advancement partners and colleagues with system-related support and troubleshooting, with a particular focus on strategic ad-hoc list building, basic analytics and reporting, and data interpretation.

  • Oversee projects with Advancement partners and colleagues, proposing critical questions as they pertain to complex reporting to ensure most efficient outcomes.

  • Contribute to the total effectiveness of the unit by communicating openly, solving problems proactively, offering creative ideas and working as a positive, engaged team member, offering widespread and enthusiastic support for data and analytics-driven work.

  • Serve as a department representative on University committees as assigned, including search committees.

  • Commit to growth in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion and interact with a diverse range of partners and colleagues.

  • Develop strategies to manage and continuously improve the donor experience.

  • Use knowledge of the Advancement database to advise others around generating more effective and targeted communications with donors and alumni in order to directly influence the results of the fundraising priorities and goals.

  • Identify and resolve a variety of problems in a timely manner. Gather and analyze information skillfully, meeting challenges with resourcefulness. Develop alternative approaches and ideas in order to improve efficiency and accuracy. Areas of analysis include post-engagement giving, payment reconciliation, engagement indicators (opens, clicks, etc.), compiling complicated rosters with multiple tickets types, and reviewing/modifying metrics reports.

  • Manage sensitive constituent information, driving data quality and completeness. Ensure the integrity of all data and event rosters. Make and implement recommendations to continuously improve the overall accuracy of the data.
