Information specific to this position: This position is for the 2025-26 school year. It will be 50% Assistant Principal and 50% Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA).

Pay Range:

$89,508-$123,523 for the 50% Assistant Principal on a 208 day calendar, based on qualifications and experience*

50% Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) Pay for this position is determined by the Licensed Educator Salary Schedule based on years of experience and education. Range for position is $54,329 - $81,728 annually (based on a 100% assignment starting on the date the specific calendar(s) for this position begin).

These pay rates are based on the 2024-25 school year rates and will be updated when approved during the negotiations process around May 2025 for the 2025-26 school year

Percentage: 50% Assistant Principal; 50% Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA)

Work calendar days: 208 days (50% Assistant Principal) 188 days (TOSA)

Duration of position: Ongoing

SUMMARY:

The assistant principal is responsible for assisting the Principal with instructional and organizational leadership, direction, supervision, operations and accountability for the attainment of school goals. Duties include evaluating, appraising, mentoring and monitoring licensed and classified staff; leading staff professional development; supervising, monitoring, and encouraging appropriate student behavior and individual student success; and planning and implementation of required assessments

At the direction of the site principal or district administrator, provide support in the coordination and implementation of the instructional program. Collaborate with colleagues across the district to support continuous professional learning and lead coaching and training of teachers.

JOB TASKS:

  1. Assist and support the implementation of building-level curriculum and instruction for the purpose of increasing student achievement.

  2. Supervise, assess and monitor student performance using objective and verifiable information, including standardized, criterion-referenced district and teacher developed assessments.

  3. Evaluate and supervise school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of school's curriculum.

  4. Work collaboratively with the Principal to establish guidelines and expectations for appropriate student behavior with the goal of maintaining an academic environment conducive to student achievement including, but not limited to supervision during lunch, in the hallways and during co-curricular activities at night and after school.

  5. Facilitate communication (oral and written) between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.

  6. Participate in social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities.

  7. Develop and implement staff development opportunities including organizing and facilitating grade level, team, and/or building based discussions, trainings, or meetings.

  8. Assist Principal with the hiring of new teachers and building staff.

  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

  10. Support educators in all areas of classroom instruction and environment, including instructional strategies, student engagement strategies, classroom management, assessment, and curriculum.

  11. Develop, plan, prepare, and facilitate professional development opportunities.

  12. Design and provide support for educators in: a. Developing instruction aligned with district and state standards. b. Designing assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways c. Using data t give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.

  13. Administer, edit, proofread, and grade students' assignments and assessments.

  14. Create a classroom environment which maximizes instructional opportunity, supervise the behavior and wellbeing of students in the classroom and all educational settings, and administer discipline when appropriate.
