Summary About the Position: This position serves as the Director of the Army Museum Enterprise (AME) reporting to the Executive Director, Center of Military History (CMH). Responsibilities Serves as the proponent of the Army Museum Enterprise (AME) regulations and policy, and will administer regulation and policy, to include publication of the AR 870-20 and the AME Collections Management Plan. Act as the proponent for using Army Museum Enterprise (AME) facilities and programs in support of learning strategies and to support delivery of historical content to audiences. Analyzes, evaluates, plans, organizes, and directs the execution of all Army Museum Enterprise (AME) policies, procedures, activities, and operations. Plans and executes exhibit renovations and repairs for 28 Army Museums in order to maintain educational requirements and visitor base. As the director of the Army Museum Enterprise, the employee establishes, supervises, and internally coordinates the Museum's operations and resource administration. Coordinates and works with the host installation commanders, senior mission commanders, private organizations, nonprofit entity, and Tank and Automotive Command (TACOM). Supervises the operation of a civilian organization responsible for the development and operation of the Army Museum Enterprise. Exercises position management in order to achieve the most effective/economical organizational structure to perform assigned mission. Analyzes and approves manpower requirements, resource needs, travel, and special studies to ensure proper expenditure of funds. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managing military museums and provide programmatic, budgetary, and administrative control of assigned museums; 2) providing guidance for artifact conservation and care; 3) providing subject matter expertise on military museum matters, to include curation, preservation, display, training, and education program support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Financial Management Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14). To be referred, applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. This is a Historian/Museum Curator Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a TERM appointment NTE 13 months, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. TERM appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years and may be made permanent without further competition.
