Summary About the Position: Serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (INFOSEC/NETWORK) for the United States Army 12th Aviation Battalion 1A, Battalion Headquarters (HQ) office of the Commander who independently oversees and provides network and systems administration support for Active Directory Windows server and Windows Professional personal computer systems. Responsibilities Independently analyze and resolve problems Provide operational coordination relative to all areas of security activities to include Personnel security, Industrial security, and Information security. Coordinate in the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), for Communications Security in support of the Davison Army Airfield (DAAF). Provide timely and competent technical advice to the organization. Serve as a technical expert concerning Policy and Planning including the development and interpretation of policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as they relate to the delivery of IT services Ensure that the organization strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. --AND-- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves coordinating the installation, testing, installing, or modification of Information Technology (IT) network equipment; reviewing plans, procedures, or policies related to network infrastructure; providing status reports regarding information system network projects, issues, or developments; ensuring network services are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information Technology Test and Evaluation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position has been designated Key(2): This position has been identified as being a Key and Mission Essential position under the provisions of AR 690-11, Mobilization Planning and Management. A Key position is defined as any Army position that cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of their agency to function effectively. Because of the essential nature of these positions, the Secretary of the Army, or his designee, shall designate such positions as key positions and shall require that they not be filled by members of the National Guard, Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations. This is an Inclement Weather position. Incumbent may be required to report for or remain on duty during inclement weather.
