Job Title: PCB Quality Technician - Florham Park, NJ

Job Description:

The PCB (Printed circuit board) Quality Technician is responsible for performing visual, mechanical, electrical, and quality monitoring inspections of material, processes, and electro-mechanical product. The position will oversee the Verification, Calibration, and minor Preventative Maintenance of equipment and tools used within Florham Park, plus perform other duties and functions associated with the role.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting on hardware

• Perform board-level repairs

• Test hardware repairs for performance to ensure quality control

• Performs visual, mechanical, electrical, and quality monitoring inspections of material, processes, and electro-mechanical products.

• Capable of interpreting mechanical drawings that use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) symbology and determining method or technique of inspection needed to verify compliance using precision measurement tools.

• Works from standard inspection procedures, work instructions and engineering drawings.

• Uses established systems, processes, and procedures to document findings, review historical information for trend analysis and using data for plotting graphs and histograms.

• Manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) by ensuring all activity is properly recorded and performed on time.

• Documents and archive reports electronically in the designated file locations.

• Collaborates with outside calibration services to schedule, gather equipment, and manage visits.

• Conducts verification on items such as Torque Drivers, ESD Mats, Soldering Irons, etc.

• Routinely seeks out Continuous Improvement opportunities. Examples include Lean Process Improvements (elimination of waste), 5S Improvements, and Mistake Proofing.

Skills and Experience:

• In-depth understanding of electrical components and diagrams, electrical theory and its application in electronics

• Highly proficient in the use of oscilloscopes and digital multimeters for diagnostics

• Highly proficient in the use of equipment needed for board-level repair (SMD rework, soldering station, hot tweezers)

• 2+ years of experience in PCB diagnostics and board-level repairs

• Solder/Microsolder IPC Certification a plus

• AS degree in an engineering or technical discipline or related vocational training

• Two or more years of Quality Technician or Inspection experience in an electro-mechanical products manufacturing environment.

• Experience interpreting mechanical drawings and inspecting mechanical components using precision measuring instruments and tools.

• Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel) and other software systems.

• Familiar with the various types of instrumentation and tools commonly used in an electronics manufacturing environment.

• Understanding the fundamentals of Calibration of tools and equipment and using a system to manage assets.

• Manufacturing Process and Product Audit experience
