ABOUT THE ROLE

The Electrical Engineer will ensure completion of electrical maintenance jobs with the highest level of quality, safety, and effectiveness at minimum cost to maximize equipment availability. They will perform and coordinate electrical design and development of new equipment and the modification of existing electrical equipment consistent with plant standards. Finally, the Electrical Engineer will embrace preventative and predictive maintenance practices and contribute to their improvement.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

  • Responsible for the execution and the quality of electrical maintenance work to be carried out on plant equipment, respecting budget, policies and deadlines.

  • Contribute in his field, to the development of working methods and definition of procedures and ensure their implementation.

  • Optimize electrical maintenance operations, using best available tools and procedures in order to maximize equipment availability.

  • Ensure completion of major operations within schedule (yearly overhaul).

  • Practice and promote safety in such a way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • May supervise/coach 4 electricians

  • Responsible for the predictive/preventative electrical maintenance program.

  • Participate in the creation of preventative maintenance routines (PMRs) and bills of materials (BOMs) for electrical equipment.

  • Prepare engineering scope of work for plant electrical projects.

  • Interface with contractors utilized in project work, including solicitation of quotes, selection and field direction.

  • Prepare cost estimates and justifications for the capital plan.

  • Conduct economic and operation feasibility studies on proposed electrical modifications and additions.

  • Maintain a standard set of specifications for consistent application related to modifications or additions.

  • Research/recommend new PM procedures based on newly developed technologies.

  • Use SAP to purchase parts and services, review work orders, analyse reports and manage capital projects related to electrical project management and PM development.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Electrical Engineering.

Required Work Experience: 1-5 years

Required Computer and Software Skills: SAP (CMMS), AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Easypower, and Microsoft Office

Travel Requirements: 5%

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to be on-call on a rotaional basis

  • Working knowledge of power distribution in an industrial sized application

  • Strong knowledge of AC, DC motors applications.

  • Experience troubleshooting the following: MCC, Protection Relays, Transformers, Circuit Breakers, VFDs, etc.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical components, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems is a bonus.

  • Experience working in a complex manufacturing environment, or Heavy industry displaying strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across various functions.

  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications. Ladder diagrams, electrical schematics, and control drawings.

  • Experience with data analytics concepts and actionable insight process.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
