We are hiring a Psychosocial/Volunteer/Chaplain and Bereavement Supervisor to join the Hospice of Western & Central Massachusetts team!

As the Psychosocial/Volunteer/Chaplain and Bereavement Supervisor, you are responsible for managing all aspects of the provision of patient psychosocial including managing the members of the social work, bereavement, chaplain, and volunteer team. You also establish, implement, and evaluate goals and objectives for social services.

Experience & Education:

  • A Master’s degree in Social Work.

  • At least three (3) years’ management experience preferably in home care operations.

  • Demonstrates an ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.

  • Knowledge of corporate business management, governmental regulations, and CHAP standards.

  • Demonstrates good communications and public relations skills.

  • Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, and flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Directs all daily patient social service, bereavement, chaplain and volunteer operations including providing direct oversight of the establishment and implementation of policies.

  • Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and CHAP social service regulatory requirements.

  • Directs the implementation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure social service, bereavement, chaplain and volunteer are delivered in accordance with policy.

  • Ensures seamless home care service delivery by providing direct oversight of coordination of care with other clinical service providers.

  • Assists the Executive Director/Administrator in the preparation of an annual budget for the social service, bereavement, chaplain and volunteer department and monitors allocation of resources according to budgetary limitations.

  • Recruits, selects, orients, and directly manages members of the social service, bereavement, chaplain and volunteer team.

  • Supervises the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of social service, bereavement, chaplain and volunteer care by members team.

  • Assures proper documentation of social services in clinical records in compliance with state, federal, and CHAP standards.

  • Provides leadership in strategic planning including identifying opportunities for additional or improved services to address unmet customer needs.

  • Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of the field of social service, bereavement, chaplain and volunteer and shares information with appropriate organization personnel.

  • Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of Hospice of Western and Central Massachusetts contractual relationships and ensures that social service, bereavement, chaplain and volunteer services are delivered according to contract provisions.

  • Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of community resources and assists referral sources in accessing community resources should services not be provided by Hospice of Western and Central Massachusetts.

  • Plans and implements Inservice and continuing education programs to meet the development needs of social service, bereavement, chaplain and volunteer personnel.

  • Actively participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
