Mid Michigan Community Action Agency, Inc ECS Program Nurse in Farwell, Michigan

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, supervision, coordination, and implementation of the Head Start/GSRP program in designated area as required by the Head Start Performance Standards and state and federal mandates.
  • Ensure quality program service delivery.
  • Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.

*Specific Duties: *

  • Work closely with the EHS/HS Directors and management team in meeting program and overall departmental monthly, quarterly, annual goals and objectives and ensuring all areas of service are in compliance and continually improving.
  • Collect, review, and analyze data to inform the program for effective program monitoring, assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for data entry and monitoring of component information/oversight of data entry of for all allergy and concerns forms, medical records pertaining to food allergies and special diets, and provide resources as needed to families and staff.
  • Support the development and monitoring of health and nutrition plans.
  • Provide support in the classrooms for children with medical/health concerns or needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Early Intervention coordinators to ensure health, wellbeing, and safety of children.
  • Create and foster relationships with local health providers within the communities served.
  • Perform medical procedures as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with team to plan and deliver in-service training.
  • Identifies individual or program systems barriers which impede health services to children and families and facilitates resolutions.
  • Develop and facilitate all Health Service Advisory Councils in service areas as required by funding source.
  • Responsible for ensuring all required program documentation is reviewed for accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Supervise ECS Health Assistant
  • Provide support to all ECS staff as requested and needed.
  • Facilitate a comprehensive orientation for new staff.
  • Accurately complete required program documentation and record keeping in a neat and timely manner.
  • Update on a regular basis specific position how-to's and timeline.
  • Responsible for being a positive, innovative, and supportive team player and promoting a healthy work environment.
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems as they arise.
  • Recruit families and promote agency programs within the community.
  • Participate in personal and professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, training opportunities, as identified and approved by supervisors.
  • Attend community events and meetings to support the agency programs, including evening and weekend events/meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) required.

RN (Registered Nurse) preferred.

Mental Health experience a plus.

Prenatal and Birth to five experience preferred.

Early Head Start/Head Start experience a plus.

Must complete 15 hours of annual training in addition to CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen training.

Family Service Credential within 18 months of hire or first available session thereafter.

Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively.

Demonstrated ability as a strength-based leader.

Demonstrated ability to present information to community groups.

Infant/toddler and preschool experiences preferred.

Knowledge of the Head Start Performance Standards, Great Start Readiness Program Implementation Manual, and State Licensing Regulations
