Hitachi Astemo Americas, Inc. Senior Engineer-Custom Resident (Ref # HR2025-04) in Farmington Hills, Michigan

*Job Location:       * 34500 Grand River Ave, Farmington Hills, MI 48335      

*Duties:  *Support the design and development of vehicle components for Hitachi's original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers. Write and document engineering changes in customer systems for any design change from external or internal customers, supporting change requests and system updates.  Support on-going assigned projects and programs, monitoring changes in the system.  Assess Hitachi's suspension components, specifically dampers, and support internal prototype making and pre-production preparation. Participate in post-vehicle durability review and contribute to resolving technical issues. Support prototype vehicle making and pre-production preparation work for Hitachi's OEM customers, including supporting post vehicle durability reviews. Participate in computer-aided design review with external and internal customers and ensure and accommodate design changes. Work with Hitachi's internal customer focus team to ensure timely response to customers' requests, including design proposals, resolutions on vehicle durability issue, and cost and schedules related to design changes.  Review and obtain customer signatures on Hitachi's engineering documents, including Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), design validation plans and reports (DVP&R), computer aided engineering (CAE) analysis, and test reports.  

*May telecommute within normal commuting distance from Farmington Hills, MI.

Requirements: Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field plus 2 years of post-bachelor's experience or in alternative bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field plus 5 years of post-bachelor's experience. Experience must include: release production designs to meet program requirements; leading launch efforts to bring issues to quick resolution; creating Interface Control Documents (ICD)requirements for component and subsystem interfaces; developing Statement of Requirements (SOR) and supporting the sourcing process; standard automotive engineering skill set, including but not limited, to design for manufacturing (DFM), design reviews with expertise in general dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), Bill of Material (BOM), assembly sequences, Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), design validation plans and reports (DVP&R).The required skills do not need to be maintained over the full term of required experience.
