Job Summary

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at MacLean Fogg - Farmington Hills, MI will support the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of our manufacturing facility. The AGM will ensure that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely, while meeting the company's quality standards. This role involves close collaboration with various departments, including production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics, to optimize productivity and drive continuous improvement.

Job Duties

Operational Oversight: Assist the General Manager in managing day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant. Monitor production schedules, workflows, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective production. Implement and enforce safety and quality standards. Perform other duties as assigned

Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and develop department managers and team leaders. Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Collaborate with the quality control team to address and resolve production issues. Lead and support lean manufacturing initiatives and other operational excellence programs. Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)

Budget and Resource Management: Assist in the development and management of operational budgets. Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities. Ensure optimal use of plant resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.

Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards. Prepare and present operational reports to the General Manager and executive team. Maintain accurate records of production metrics, inventory, and maintenance activities. Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately. Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.

Customer and Supplier Relations: Collaborate with the sales and logistics teams to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules. Manage relationships with key suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services.

Experience and Education Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Manufacturing Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a managerial role. Proven track record in managing production operations and leading teams. Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
