Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Material Finishing Specialist to support an aerospace manufacturing facility in Farmington, CT. This position focuses on deburring, polishing, and buffing activities to achieve the desired surface finish of aerospace components. The role requires hands-on experience with finishing equipment and precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform deburring, polishing, and buffing activities to achieve specified surface finishes on aerospace blades, following standard procedures.
Operate finishing equipment, including belt sanders, cutting compounds, grits, wheel dressers, and polishing or grinding wheels.
Verify work using gauges and precision measuring instruments to ensure adherence to specified tolerances.
Rework material as needed to reclaim and avoid scrap, including polishing, blending, and feathering the faces of foils, and checking and buffing leading and trailing edges, chord, base, and radius.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and quality standards.
Qualifications:
1 or more years of experience in deburring, polishing, or buffing metal components, preferably in the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
Proficiency in operating finishing equipment such as belt sanders, polishing wheels, and other related tools.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to very close tolerances.
Experience using precision measuring instruments such as gauges and micrometers.
Ability to rework deviated materials to avoid scrap and ensure quality standards are met.
Strong understanding of safety and quality procedures in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency (green card) required.
