A non profit organization is currently seeking a Behavioral Health Research Associate who performs quantitative and qualitative research involving the organization, funding, operation, services, policies, statutes, staffing and the consumers of State Mental Health Agencies (SMHAs) and providers; drafts written reports or develops research products as needed; and communicates with staff at SMHAs, partner organizations, and Federal agencies. This position provides the candidate the opportunity to develop experience of systems research and policy in the context of the public behavioral health system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Participates as a team member in designing and carrying out research and/or development projects.

• Takes a lead in communications with staff from SMHAs and partner organizations in data collection and scheduling of research activities.

• Synthesizes literature related to the organization, financing, and delivery of mental health services for use in research and/or development projects, or for dissemination.

• Serves as a liaison with individual pilot, research, or development sites/states in multi-site projects to provide technical assistance or training to ensure sites' ability to adhere to project protocols.

• Develops procedures, forms, and schedules for data collection; and collects data through interviews or other data sources. Monitors survey completion and prompts non-responders for optimal response rate.

• Writes reports of literature reviews or research results; and/or develops written products. Excellent technical writing skills required.

• Assists in organizing meetings of mental health stakeholders to disseminate information, discuss issues and develop consensus, or to plan new initiatives; develops reports of meeting conclusions and recommendations.

• Prepares, creates, and conducts presentations based on research activities for meetings and conferences.

• Assists in the production of Section 508-compliant documents/reports
