Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Category Management Specialist / Category Strategist on its Global Supply Chain Strategy team! As an experienced strategist on the team, you will have the opportunity to lead the strategic development of one of the world's most critical and vast supply chain relationship networks. Available locations include : Everett, WA, Tukwila, WA, Arlington, VA, Dallas, TX, El Segundo, CA, Mesa, AZ, Oklahoma City, OK, Ridley Park, PA, Hazelwood, MO, Berkeley, MO, Denver, CO, Titusville, FL, and Miami, FL.

Position Responsibilities:

As a Category Strategist, you will not only play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the product categories. Your role will drive market share growth and profitability through the analysis, alignment, and integration of strategies across all of BDS Global Supply Chain & Integration. You will collaborate closely with and cultivate critical relationships with respective division leadership, and key functional counterparts in business development, engineering, finance, and supply chain, fostering a sense of inclusion and teamwork.

Strategy Formulation & Management

  • A successful candidate should understand the bigger strategic picture and be able to dive deep into the key strategic and tactical issues of the businesses and division. This position will be responsible for developing strategic alternatives to meet the defense business’ strategic objectives including new source development, insourcing, acquisitions and work movement, both domestically and internationally.

  • Lead and motivate teams, manage cross functional initiatives, and influence stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives aligned with organizational objectives for assigned categories.

  • Lead the development of mitigation plans for both the avoidance of future supply chain disruptions and resolution of existing supply chain issues impacting customers and programs.

  • Develop and implement category and supplier strategies based on program needs and supply base capabilities.

  • Drive the company's cross-functional supply base strategy process.

  • The selected candidate must possess the ability to adapt and take different roles from strategy development to project management based on the stage of an initiative and/or to meet evolving business needs.

Interpersonal & Communication

  • The ideal candidate must be able to work across teams to generate key strategic analysis, possess an aptitude for critical thinking and also have the ability to present the insights from this analysis to senior leaders within the business.

  • Represent BDS Global Supply Chain on enterprise, commodity, complex or strategic supply chain initiatives.

  • Collaborate with internal peers/stakeholders, subject matter experts, senior and executive management to understand their needs and priorities and align the development of future supply base strategies accordingly.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to develop and manage a multi-year strategic roadmap aligned with the organization's priorities. Act as a market intelligence provider for responsible categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed.

  • Proficient in managing multiple projects with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines. Experienced in orchestrating the efforts of different teams to achieve strategic outcomes.

  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing market conditions and modify strategies as necessary. Display resilience and flexibility in the face of shifting priorities and requirements.

Analysis & Insight Development

  • This role requires an individual to research and synthesize market & competitive intelligence across a variety of defense market segments to obtain insights and drive decisions.

  • Analyze spending patterns, market trends, and identify value opportunities within the target category.

  • Leverage market and industry resources and publications to ensure proposed strategies are integrated with the latest thinking, leverage best practices and account for current realities.

  • Analyze procurement data, generate reports, and provide insights to support decision-making and performance evaluation within the target category.

  • Review technical part specifications to understand required supplier capabilities.

  • Evaluate potential proposals and coordinate sourcing opportunities.

  • Analyze supplier and business processes and procedures to identify improvement opportunities and incorporate into business solutions.

This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • More than 5 years of experience collecting, organizing, synthesizing and analyzing data for a cross-functional team

  • More than 5 years of experience in a role that required Project Management skills

  • More than 5 years of experience providing business analysis support for an organization's strategic planning efforts

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • More than 5 years of experience leading strategic development

  • More than 5 years of experience utilizing analytical skills to support compliance requirements

  • More than 5 years of experience in Procurement and Supply Chain processes

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years' related work experience, 14 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 25% of the time.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $98,600 - $140,700
