Job Description Summary

The Next Generation Products (NGP) Performance Team at Edison Works is responsible for developing and testing future advanced-cycle engines. One of their key initiatives is the Advanced Combat Engine (ACE) program, which aims to mature technologies for advanced military engines that will power future combat aircraft. As Performance Integrated Products Team (IPT) Lead you integrate with the sciences and engineering and lead the performance team in the cycle design, development, and test of these engines to ensure that key technologies are ready for production.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Sr Staff Engineer - Performance IPT Lead will be the focal point for technical execution, scheduling, and cost tracking of NGP performance activities. Responsibilities include interfacing with the systems organization on technical issues, providing technical guidance to the NGP performance team, and serving as the NGP performance Control Account Manager (CAM). Activities will focus on advancing the NGP design through detailed design phases through test.

Key Activities:

  • Act as the focal point for systems and design requests for the NGP engine.

  • Integrate with the Subsection Manager to prioritize tasks and track execution and plan activities.

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight of tasks, while mentoring less experienced engineers.

  • Lead and oversee studies to evaluate alternative design options, recommend preferred approaches, ensure accuracy of results, assess, and communicate risks.

  • Provide various options to solve performance issues encountered, coordinate with affected IPTs.

  • Develop clear presentations and present in technical program reviews.

  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated by the team is consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Support test planning.

  • Utilize and develop Model Based System Engineering tools and processes in the performance discipline

  • Establish and grow working relationships with internal and external interfaces.

  • Status Earned Value Management (EVM) and support CAM activities.

  • Utilize Flight Deck Lean Management principles and tools.

  • Track status performance vs requirements for program scorecards.

  • Ensure CDRLs for the Performance group are delivered on time.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain US government security clearance

  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in an engineering position.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college.

  • Working knowledge of thermodynamics and aerodynamics.

  • Experience with system-level thermodynamic modeling and/or data analysis.

  • Working knowledge of Model Based System Engineering tools and practices.

  • Working knowledge of NPSS, Python, C++, programming languages.

  • Working knowledge of automated data plotting tools.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
