POSITION SUMMARY: The Preschool/Kitchen Aide is a temporary position. This person is responsible for supporting both kitchen operations and classroom activities in a preschool setting. This includes food purchasing, preparing meals, ensuring food safety, maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, record keeping, inventories, as well as support all aspects of the classroom on an as-needed basis. This includes but is not limited to classroom, playground structure, to a classroom up to 13 children, and following state and agency regulations. This Preschool/Kitchen aide will cover breaks and lunches for the teaching team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for children.

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare meals and snacks according to the needs of the agency.

  • Support food service events, including meal planning, shopping, setup, and cleanup.

  • Ensure proper food storage and accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies.

  • Follow food safety protocols to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen.

  • Coordinate handling kitchen stocking and inventory

  • Maintain compliance with USDA, OOC, PBC, SPARK, and Grant guidelines.

  • Assist with classroom setup and cleanup, ensuring that essential supplies such as towels, baby wipes, and plastic bags are stocked.

  • Prepare and use bleach bottles daily to sanitize diaper-changing areas and objects used by children.

  • Sanitize toys and other objects that come into contact with children's mouths at the end of each day.

  • Report any suspected cases of abuse or neglect to supervisors and relevant agencies.

  • Participate in family engagement activities as part of the agency's outreach efforts.

  • Adapt to fulfill the duties of any other position you are covering during the day, as needed.

  1. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure workflow and/or procedures are kept up-to-date for owned tasks

  • Maintain all safety protocols and techniques within the workplace

  • Maintain an accurate daily record on timesheet of hours worked

  • Acts responsive and engaged with developing a positive work environment which includes providing honest, respectful and direct feedback to other staff, participating in team meetings, team development, personal training plans, respecting diversity and differences among staff, clients and stakeholders.

  • Completes other duties as assigned

  1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree from a college or university with a major in: Early childhood education, Child development, Special education, Human development, Child and family studies OR A state or nationally recognized credential, e.g. Child Development Associate (CDA) OR Documentation of attaining at least step 6 in the Oregon Registry; OR 9 quarter credits in two CKCs (3 must be in HGD or UGB) OR At least 750 hours of qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center, OR comparable group care program in a toddler/preschool age level.

  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities/cognitive difficulties preferred

  • State of Oregon Driver's License and valid vehicle insurance

  • Registered in the Central Background Check, Current First Aid and CPR card, Food Handler's Card, Annual Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse and Neglect training. Food Handler's Card

  • Recent experience with meal preparation for over 25 people on a daily basis

  • Ability to pass an Oregon Department of Human Services background check

  1. PHYSICAL DEMAND:
  • The physical effort applied in this job will vary depending on situation. Typically, lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, working at floor level, standing, walking, sitting, and communicating.

  • Constant mental and visual focus is required while working with children.
  1. WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Working conditions will typically be in a climate controlled and regulated environment

  • Playground and off-site work will present a variety of environmental conditions

  3. It is imperative that attendance protocols are adhered to and that Department Call-In Policies are maintained at all times
