DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. You will install and repair doors, electrical circuits, plumbing fixtures, roofs, flashing, and spouting. You will also paint interiors and exteriors of buildings, replace door locks, and perform masonry work on foundations, walkways, and walls. This role requires the ability to apply knowledge in various trades while prioritizing work and determining proper methods and procedures needed. In addition, you will maintain grounds by cutting the grass, trimming trees, and raking leaves; repair wheelchairs, beds, and equipment; and interpret blueprints, maintenance instructions, and diagrams.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday - Sunday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will have Monday and Tuesday off. Your schedule may change based on operational needs. Overtime and travel as needed Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements: You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
