The Software Engineer strives to:

  • Design and present solutions and options that improve patient care, enhance patient engagement, improve operational efficiency organizational knowledge with thoughtful design.

  • Reviews and analyzes systems including testing and documenting Epic applications.

  • Understands system options and configurations completely and can suggest and lead teams through decisions on the best way to configure and utilize the system.

  • The Epic Application Analyst acts as a subject matter expert in design, configuration in building technologies of moderate to high complexity.

Responsibilities

  • The primary function of this role is to serve as technical authority and point person over assigned projects.

  • Responsible for the realization and delivery of technology solutions for assigned projects. Plan, design, implement, maintain, and provide ongoing optimization and support for Epic Beacon software and applications.

  • Perform workflow assessments, capture business needs, and analyze internal systems to determine functional requirements for optimal utilization of Epic applications.

  • Work within a cross-functional team and with end-users to achieve application integration to meet clinical needs.

  • Perform builds, upgrades, and system enhancements as needed.

  • Actively participates in all phases of testing, build, and validation of the Oncology workspace.

  • Creates thorough system design and build documentation.

  • Ensure issue escalation and change control processes are followed.

  • Translates high-level business requirements to detailed technical designs/documentation.

  • Supports and maintains day-to-day existing Epic functionality. This includes break-fix issues, optimization requests and maintenance requests.

  • Foster IT’s understanding of the clinical technology needs.

  • Manages communications with clinicians and project stakeholders. Serves as the primary point of contact.

  • Coordinates project resources.

  • Advanced system analysis and troubleshooting.

  • Actively engages in technical and clinical discussions with clinicians.

  • On-call coverage (after business hours and weekends) is required, on a rotational basis, or as needed.

Qualifications

  • Epic Beacon proficiency or certification is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.

  • 4 years of relevant experience required: such as Epic application support, implementation experience in a hospital or medical related industry, clinical oncology experience (such as oncology nursing).

  • Possess in-depth clinical and application knowledge and experience. Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare operations and 3rd-party application\vendor integration.

  • Demonstrated expert technical and analytic competency to research and troubleshoot in Epic.

  • EpicCare Ambulatory and/or Willow along with Beacon EPIC certification, required.

  • Epic certification(s) for the area in which you support (in primary application) is required within 4 months of employment.

  • Ongoing maintenance of Epic certification(s), required

  • Demonstrated ability to shape and influence team consensus, driving group discussions, and presenting to operational leaders.

  • Strong business or clinical acumen. This includes communication, interpersonal, and rapport-building skills.

  • Able to get things done and escalate issues to the decision-makers as necessary.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, multiple (and sometimes conflicting) priorities and adapt to change.

  • Strong customer service skills required

  • Excellent presentation, technical writing and documentation skills are required.

  • Strong analytical skills, detail orientation, ability to troubleshoot, be proactive.

Pay Range

$38.81 - $56.28 /hour
