Robert Half Senior SEC Manager in Emeryville, California

Description

We are in the process of recruiting a Senior SEC Manager to become part of our team based in Emeryville, California. The role involves ensuring compliance with the Securities and Exchange Commission regulations, overseeing acquisitions, and managing annual financial reporting.

SEC Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the SEC reporting process and maintain the SEC calendar aligned with closing activities.

  • Prepare and publish 10Q and 10K filings, including XBRL tagging review.

  • Lead Disclosure Committee discussions for accurate financial reporting.

  • Manage tie-outs and internal/external document reviews.

  • Ensure SOX 404 compliance for disclosure accuracy.

  • Prepare materials for the Audit Committee.

Technical Accounting

  • Complete GAAP checklists and ensure compliance with GAAP guidelines.

  • Prepare earnings release tables and review earnings-related texts.

  • Assist in proxy preparation.

  • Conduct technical accounting research and prepare memorandums.

  • Review material contracts for proper accounting treatment.

Equity & Complex Financial Reporting

  • Prepare journal entries and disclosures for share-based compensation.

  • Calculate EPS and prepare the Statement of Stockholders' Equity.

  • Perform impairment analyses for long-lived assets and goodwill.

Other Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely financial disclosure compliance by senior management.

  • Develop accounting positions for new guidance and document conclusions.

  • Maintain financial control policies and procedures.

  • Manage external agencies (SEC, NASDAQ) and respond to requests.

  • Collaborate with external auditors and handle special projects.

    Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in a public company or accounting firm serving public clients

  • CPA required (active certification preferred)

  • Strong SEC public reporting experience

  • Big 4 accounting firm experience preferred

  • Workiva experience strongly preferred

  • Retail or consumer goods background is a plus

Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in US GAAP, PCAOB, SEC, and SOX 404 regulations

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills

  • Excellent communication; ability to engage with auditors, legal teams, and regulators

  • Solid understanding of financial statements and disclosure benchmarking

  • Proficient in financial systems and processes

  • Energetic, proactive team player with a consultative approach

  • Skilled in managing cross-functional teams and driving alignment
