Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. Program Description: The Baxter Safe Haven provides transitional housing to 74 adults experiencing homelessness with the goal of permanent housing. On-site services include case management, entitlement assistance, medical and psychiatric care, substance use counseling, group activities, meals, recreation, and 24 hour/7 day per week front desk security.

Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Program Director, the Residential Aide Shift Supervisor (RAS) is responsible for assuring the general welfare, security and safety of the residents, staff, and facility. This position is responsible for the supervision of the Residential Aides team. The RAS is expected to ensure quality service deliverables by supervising the daily safe haven-related residential services and inspections, to ensure that all residents’ goals, are met 24/7 in a safe environment.

Schedule: Sunday through Thursday 4:00 pm to 12:00 am

Salary Range: $62,400 - $67,400

Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate’s number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.

Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties

  1. Resident Relations and Compliance

    • Responsible for training and daily support of RA staff: on client care issues, agency policies, and best practices.• Provide daily supervision to RA staff to ensure consistent quality of service.• Lead regular staff meetings where resident issues, operations, policies and procedures and program outcomes are discussed and documented.• Coordinate schedules for RA’s and plan coverage as needed.• Review and submit payroll required for Residential Aides.• Oversee &conduct intakes; keeping the PD notified of any changes or concerns during admissions. • Oversee CARES intake system and ensure all clients are admitted in a timely fashion.• De-escalate client conflict and incidents by use of client centered care and responding appropriately and pro-actively to a potential incident and follow up with clinical team.• Supervise the daily food service and serve as liaison with contracted meal provider.

  2. Building Maintenance and Safety

    • Work alongside Program and Assistant Program Directors to define, document and update (as necessary) building rules for residents and work with social service staff on ensuring compliance. • Ensure timely and appropriate response to building-related emergencies, contacting senior management as necessary and ensure incident reporting guidelines (DHS and Goddard) are followed.• Ensure compliance with all health, fire, and safety codes, ensure timely handling of all violations, prevent violations whenever possible. • Perform daily facility and resident’s rooms to ensure that residents are not at risk and that facility management is aware of potential hazards (leaks, fire, destruction of property, etc.).• Oversee Security contracted services to ensure all post, rounds and nightly reports are being conducted in accordance with written policies.• Enter and monitor maintenance requests within the contractor database system and follow up to ensure completion.• Flexibility in schedule: to ensure supervision and coverage across RA shifts (24/7 operation), some overnight and weekends, are required.• Other duties as required.

  3. Program Development and Improvement

    • Work with Program Director on staff development and training needs. • Stay informed on all contract requirements and ensure compliance. • Communicate goals and objectives, monitor and communicate performance outcomes as well as individual and team improvement plans, as needed.

    Qualifications/ Educational Requirements

    • HS diploma or equivalent required• Minimum of 2 years supervisor experience required, in a safe haven / shelter /supportive housing environment preferred.• Food handlers license required within first month of hire.• F-80 Certification required in first 90 days of hire.

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    • Excellent organizational, communication, writing and computer skills.• Strong leadership skills, proactive to the needs of the program.• Teamwork driven focus.• Experience with mental health and/or substance use or homelessness.• Proficient in Microsoft Office products

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have/ be:

    • Ability to work in the Microsoft Office Suite, should especially be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook• Experience with CARES system a plus.• Familiar or ability to learn cloud-based payroll platforms such as Paycom (supervisor/manager functionality)
