Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated Machine Operators to join our team for the second shift (4:30pm - 1:00am). This role offers a competitive pay rate and opportunities for yearly increases under a union contract.

Responsibilities

  • Start machinery and make necessary adjustments to improve performance

  • Operate machinery and equipment according to instructions

  • Troubleshoot minor issues

  • Perform quality control and follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures

  • Report problems to the supervisor

  • Comply with all safety and health regulations

  • Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in the work area

Essential Skills

  • Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility or similar relevant experience

  • Detail-oriented

  • Understanding of production and plant processes

  • Analytical and numerical skills for performing mathematical calculations

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, bend, and stand or walk for long periods

  • Willingness to work in shifts, including late or early hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 6 months of general operating experience

  • Comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs.

  • Comfortable working with oil/lubricants

  • Comfortable working in a diverse environment

Work Environment

Our precision product business is growing rapidly. The production floor is loud due to multiple machines running simultaneously. With 112 hourly employees across two shifts, the environment has a slight oil smell due to lubricated automotive parts. We provide hearing protection and safety glasses on the first day. Candidates must have steel toe, non-slip shoes. Only conversational English is required as all leads and supervisors are bilingual (Spanish). The shift hours are 1st shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm (First Day: 9:00 am - 2:30 pm) and 2nd shift: 4:30 pm - 1:00 am (First Day: 4:00 pm - 1:00 am). Starts are on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays each week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.25/hr.
