Form Energy Senior Mechanical Engineer in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania
Senior Mechanical Engineer / Form Energy, Inc.:
Develop novel equipment used to manufacture electrodes for Form Energy's commercial product. Duties will include:
- Design, develop, build, and deploy automation equipment, ranging from initial prototyping equipment to fully automated and integrated systems used for high volume manufacturing;
- Design, build, and commission manufacturing equipment and bulk materials dispensing equipment and processes used in die filling and/or coating processes;
- Design high-speed, high-accuracy motion systems, robotics, and automation systems;
- Design electrical and pneumatic controls systems, specifying electrical and pneumatic control components, and design the mechanical layout of an electromechanical and/or pneumatic controls system;
- Provide design for manufacturing feedback to the cell and materials engineering teams;
- Design and document robust equipment and processes capable of a high level of safety, uptime, and quality;
- Collaborate with process and controls engineers in the start-up and debugging effort for manufacturing equipment and processes at new production sites;
- Select, program, troubleshoot and configure PLC hardware for automated systems;
- Work with a diverse set of teams inside and outside the company to achieve overall manufacturing success;
- Promote safety in the development of new equipment and processes.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field, plus 5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering-related occupation.
Experience must include the following, which may have been gained concurrently:
1) 5 years of experience in custom machine design for high volume materials processing equipment;
2) 5 years of experience in stress & fatigue analysis;
3) 5 years of experience in Design for Manufacturing for: sheet metal components and precision machine components;
4) 5 years of experience utilizing 3D CAD modeling software;
5) 5 years of experience in design for material handling for bulk materials;
6) 3 years of experience in custom tooling design using high strength steels;
7) 2 years of experience in design & component selection for harsh environments.
