The Equipment Operator is located in Edmonton AB and typically reports directly to the Site Foreman. The work requires commuting to different high traffic sites in and around Edmonton for multiple projects and performing activities relating to the operation of machinery on sites primarily relating to trenching, backfill, installation of manholes, junction boxes, precast concrete bases as well as transporting material or equipment to various work locations across Edmonton. It may also from time to time involve travel to work sites outside of Edmonton. Overtime and night shift work may be required from time to time.
Duties and Responsibilities
Safely operate equipment in the installation of Underground Utilities
Operate equipment in residential areas (Excavator, Mini Hoe, Skid Steer, Backhoe, Zoom Boom etc.)
Responsible for the safe operation and basic maintenance of the organization's equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, stakes, and signage
Coordinate and organize daily activities
Perform and log pre-operation safety inspections
Prepare and coordinate safety toolbox talks and complete pre-job hazard assessments
Fuel and Grease Equipment to maintain safe and optimal operation
Out of town travel may occasionally be required
Full understanding of the daily work scope safety and environmental requirements.
Execute daily tasks to meet productivity requirement in the field.
Reads and interprets Ground Disturbance Permits/Locates.
Assist crews with other physical tasks as required
Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma is preferred.
Class 5 at a minimum, preference will be given to candidates with a Class 1 or 3 license with air
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 3 years' experience within a construction industry.
2+ years' experience operating Excavators, Mini Hoes, Zoom Booms, skid steers, backhoe
Alberta's regulations relating to safe excavation, hauling, loading and load securement (equipment or material)
Possess a valid, Alberta Driver's License and a clean driving abstract
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability to comply with the company standard practice as it applies to field assignments.
Valid Alberta Driver's License (Class 3 License)
Ground Disturbance II Certification
Confined Space Entry/Monitor
Fall Protection Certification
CSTS 2020 with WHMIS
Standard First Aid
