Lineage Logistics Business Analyst, Associate in Edmonton, Alberta

The Associate Business Analyst supports the Continuous Improvement (CI) department within the transportation business unit by providing analytical, reporting, and project support to enable data-driven decision-making and operational performance improvement. This entry-level role is designed for a detail-oriented, results-driven professional looking to develop expertise in transportation analytics, process mapping, and CI methodologies.

Working closely with senior analysts, operations leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders, the Associate Business Analyst assists in gathering data, building reports, documenting processes, and supporting project delivery. The role focuses on contributing to cost savings initiatives and continuous improvement projects while developing a strong foundational understanding of transportation operations and systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the review and analysis of operational reports and dashboards across departments to assist in performance monitoring and issue identification.

  • Assist in extracting key insights, patterns, and trends from datasets to support senior analysts and operations leadership in decision-making.

  • Collaborate on the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and visualizations that summarize findings for operational teams.

  • Provide analytical support for process improvement initiatives, including data collection, documentation, and basic analysis.

  • Assist in mapping and documenting transportation business processes, ensuring clarity and alignment with CI standards.

  • Contribute to ad-hoc reporting requests and special projects, performing assigned tasks to support senior project leads.

  • Participate in solution testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and administrative validation tasks under the direction of project leads.

  • Engage with terminal managers and department leaders to gather information and support the execution of CI initiatives.

  • Assist in the tracking and validation of cost savings initiatives as directed by the Continuous Improvement team.

  • Shadow senior analysts to develop expertise in project planning, delivery, and stakeholder management within a transportation environment.

  • Support the department’s efforts to optimize reporting tools and analytical capabilities over time.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; a recent graduate or early-career professional preferred.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is an asset.

  • Analytical mindset with foundational skills in data interpretation, reporting, and problem-solving.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and deliver assigned work within tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrates a collaborative approach with a willingness to learn from senior team members and stakeholders.

  • Exposure to or interest in transportation, logistics, or supply chain environments is considered an asset.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and ambiguous scenarios while seeking guidance when necessary.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize findings clearly and professionally.

  • Ability to convert business inputs into basic use cases or documented requirements with support from senior team members.

  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and develop analytical and business process skills in a continuous improvement environment.

  • Demonstrates sound judgment, knowing when to escalate challenges or seek direction from leadership.

  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail, with a focus on meeting deadlines and quality standards
