Responsibilities Job Description

M Health Fairview is looking for a Nutrition Services Cook on the Southdale Campus in Edina, Minnesota.

This position is responsible for preparing food items as assigned using standardized recipes to meet established standards of quality, where you will be able to acquire experience and knowledge in a fast-paced team environment where customer service and food service skills are appreciated. Nutrition services staff directly influence the patient, guest, and staff experience by preparing and serving the food that sustains everyone through their healing or their work. There is great opportunity to engage directly with patients, medical staff, and to work together with a team of engaged employees. This is a 80 hours per pay period, benefit eligible position.

Location : Southdale hospital, located in Minneapolis

Hours : 80 hours biweekly, with every other weekend dedication

Mon: 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM

Tusday : 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM

Wed: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM

Thursday: 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM

Sat: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Sund: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Week 2:

Tus: 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM

Wed: 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM

Thu: 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM

Friday: 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM

  • The position reports to five department managers (may also report to the general manager).

  • Approximately 75 employees in the department.

  • Prepares items as they are ordered.

  • Prepares food products to meet temperature, and quality standards.

  • Follows standardized recipes, to assure products are consistent in quality, and nutritional value.

  • Assembles food within appropriate time frames.

  • Handles and prepares food in a safe manner, following HACCP standardized operating procedures.

  • Records and documents temperatures of food items, and makes appropriate adjustments to achieve standards.

  • Sanitizes equipment and work area per assigned schedules, and designated procedure.

  • Takes ownership for self and others, in work area.

  • Demonstrates ability to provide care, or service adjusting approaches, to reflect developmental level, and cultural differences of population served.

  • Any other tasks assigned by management, within reason.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate both verbally, and in writing, using English

  • Must be able to handle all foods, under all conditions.

  • Basic math skills.

Preferred Education:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D
