Primary Objective:

Identify, design and lead major business process re-engineering projects, and supporting information systems initiatives worldwide for specific business unit(s). Analyze user requirements, procedures, and processes to suggest ways to automate or improve new or existing systems, workflow, and interfaces.

Major Areas of Accountability

  1. Lead planning, design and implementation of business process changes within assigned areas of responsibility. Lead planning and participate in the design and implementation of business systems which support assigned business processes. Define project objectives, scope, ownership and resource requirements.

  2. Develop and maintain thorough understanding of existing business processes within assigned areas of responsibility, and the information and data they require and generate. Develop and maintain thorough understanding of the computer applications and systems required to make those business processes effective.

  3. Consult and contribute to projects at various steps: requirements, specifications writing / validation and testing. Design new solutions, configure systems, test new solutions; this includes supporting project teams to design solutions driven by the project.

  4. Articulate and translate business requirements to system solution at a conceptual level.

  5. Troubleshoot program and system malfunction to restore normal business functionality.

  6. Train staff and users to work with computer systems and programs. Create and maintain system documentation.

  7. Ensure skills remain relevant by reading manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn how to develop programs that meet business needs.

  8. Lead periodic review and assessment of current business processes versus the required functionality with management and system owners, and initiate proposals to modify or replace processes and or systems as necessary. Participate in periodic evaluation of the current computer applications portfolio versus the required functionality, and initiate proposals to modify or replace applications as necessary.

  9. Develop and maintain the "business case" supporting business process re-engineering initiatives, including cost/benefit, quality, cycle time, ROI and other metrics as appropriate. Develop methods and tools to support this effort.

  10. Develop requirements for the technical architecture and systems integrations supporting the business systems initiatives and ensure that these requirements are included in the corporate IS technical planning process.

  11. Organize effective task and steering teams to address complex and cross-functional project requirements, issues and objectives. Develop project monitoring and reporting systems and processes.

  12. May lead execution of business system application development, procurement, and/or implementation activities within assigned areas of responsibility.

  13. Develop methods and tools for requirements definition, process modeling and design, systems design, data modeling, workflow, and project management. Maintain a high degree of competency in these methods and tools through training and hands-on application.

  14. Direct outside consultation activities as required to meet project needs.

  15. Develop RFQ/RFP's for third party application systems, design and/or development products and services. Evaluate proposals and rate capabilities versus internal process requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems OR 8 years’ experience in large-scale, cross functional information systems analysis and design experience required in lieu of an undergraduate degree

Experience:

8-10 years of experience in relevant business disciplines

3 years overall SAP lifecycle experience

Process Complexity:

Has advanced functional-specific expertise on the projects with direct operational or previous systems/process experience. Provides direction and support to process owners.

Process Scope:

Projects supported span 4 or more functional organizations.

Previous Experience:

Has successfully led two or more projects of large scope and high complexity.
