Job Purpose: To contribute to our customers’ success by using Business System Lean principles to prevent and permanently solve quality problems, including process deviations and procedural errors.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: (Percentages = priority and approximate time focus)

  1. Utilize data to prioritize actions that prevent and permanently solve product quality problems. 50%

    • Develop and oversee systems for gathering, analyzing, and reporting quality data to delivery value streams.

    • Work with the delivery value streams to determine root causes and identify solutions that permanently solve prioritized quality problems.

    • Work with the delivery value streams to determine root causes and identify solutions that permanently solve prioritized procedural deviations.

    • Develop and implement highly predictive metrics to support decision making.

    • Supervise audit/inspection resources.

  2. Support new product launches and on-going finished product specification maintenance. 30%

 • Review and approve new and updated Packaging Batch Records.

 • Function as the primary quality liaison supporting the New Product Launch Cell.

 • Support new product pilots runs and launches to ensure pilot and launch finished product quality goals are achieved.

  1. Understand and maintain a culture of “lean action” within the department so that we live

lean better than any organization. 15%

 • Implement and maintain standards and processes that eliminate waste throughout the department.

 • Apply and utilize “lean tools” to permanently implement improvements.

 • Institutionalize 5-S in all aspects of the department. (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain)

  1. Perform other work as assigned. 5%

Qualification and Skill Requirements:

Prior Experience:

This position requires more than 1 year and less than 5 years of successful experience in a quality assurance position in an effective Lean environment in the food or fluids filling or manufacturing.

Knowledge Requirements:

To be effective, this position requires Customer Focus, Constant Improvement and Results Orientation as core character traits. This position requires manufacturing aptitude and experience and ability. It has a high demand for manufacturing short to mid run product cycles in a highly effective and profitable manner. Requires an understanding and experience with lean methodology, kaizen, and kanban. IQ, OQ, PQ, Six Sigma, GMP, HACCP, OTC, Micro. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

Licenses and Certifications: None

Certifications or required class attendance: ASQ membership, Six Sigma cert is a plus.

Work Requirement:

This position will require moderate to high work hours beyond the normal workday based on market opportunities, volume of business, and specific sales goals. It has a high demand for capturing new markets, and customers, and sourcing new product development and innovation. This position entails work of a cyclical nature. This position will experience moderate interruption in workflow. It has a moderate rate of overnight and day travel.

The pay range for this position is $36.50 - $41.00/hr.
