POSITION SUMMARY :

As the Sr. Manager, SH&E, you will play a crucial role in developing, promoting, implementing, and managing comprehensive policies and programs to ensure full compliance with Nestle's Safety Health Environmental (SHE) strategy and program objectives, as well as regulatory requirements. In this dynamic position, you will lead and oversee safety and environmental certifications within our factory, ensuring a secure working environment for all. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to supervise a team of dedicated professionals, including Safety Specialists, Environmental Specialists, and an Administrative Assistant.

Your key responsibilities will involve the development, review, and implementation of robust safety policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing compliance with all safety regulations at our facility. This encompasses Corporate, Federal, State, and Local requirements, making your role integral to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

As the SH&E Manager, you will provide invaluable support, guidance, and training to Managers, Team Advisors, Engineers, and Maintenance personnel on matters pertaining to Safety and Loss Control. Acting as an internal consultant to plant management, you will collaborate closely to achieve departmental and factory objectives, fostering a culture of safety and excellence. A primary focus of this role will be to effectively contain costs related to workers' compensation and expenditure.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Provides leadership, development, and support to team members under the guidance of Nestle Management and Leadership Principles.

Safety and Environmental Compliance:

  • Manages plant safety and environmental processes, offering guidance and leadership to ensure compliance with Federal OSHA, State OHSAS, local standards, and internal Nestlé standards.

  • Develops and updates all required written standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensures implementation and training of the above to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

  • Coordinates on-site industrial hygiene and other safety surveys, including noise and air monitoring, ergonomic surveys, and other audits/assessments.

  • Coordinates safety program audits to assess the effectiveness of safety programs and their implementation throughout the facility.

  • Leads facility safety auditing preparative response for Nestlé Continuous Excellence, TPM, and other key Nestle initiatives.

Safety Training:

  • Develops and coordinates all safety training for Nestlé Eau Claire facility and contractors, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as internal Nestlé standards.

  • Ensures that safety training materials and programs are available to all departments for completion of their specific departmental safety training.

Resource for Safety Issues:

  • Coordinates safety investigations with department team members, including hazard assessments, recommendations for improvements, and communication of resolutions to all affected employees.

  • Provides resources for new equipment/line layout and design.

  • Assists other Health Science Division locations upon request.

Emergency Response Team:

  • Develops, trains, and coordinates activities of the Emergency Response Team.

Worker's Compensation:

  • Administers the workers' compensation program to minimize claims cost, reduce lost time, and implement a direct return-to-work program.

  • Coordinates all treatment with physicians and insurance carriers.

  • Researches and administers all cases regarding modified duty, ADA, FMLA, and litigation.

  • Coordinates investigations of injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents, ensuring follow-up actions are taken to minimize future exposure and proper records/documentation are maintained.

Safety and Environmental:

  • Adheres to factory safety and environmental objectives and targets.

  • Follows plant safety rules, reporting incidents and unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Maintains compliance with regulations and refers to the Safety and Environmental Management System(s) for related procedures and programs.

  • Understands the environmental aspects of the position and takes action to reduce environmental impacts by conserving resources such as paper, electricity, and water. Also ensures appropriate recycling of materials (paper, plastic, food, etc.).

Quality:

  • Follows factory food safety and quality objectives and targets.

  • Adheres to Nestle Good Manufacturing Practices, reporting food safety and quality issues promptly.

  • Maintains compliance with regulations and refers to the Nestle Quality Management System for related procedures and programs.

  • Understands the food safety and quality aspects of the position as indicated in QMS, OJT's, and SOP's that apply.

Throughout all these responsibilities, maintains a focus on continuous improvement.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Risk Management, or a related field preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with 10+ years of relevant job experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Previous experience in the manufacturing industry with responsibilities in safety, environmental, and/or loss control, and risk management is strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the fields of Safety, Environmental, Risk Management, or Occupational Health.

  • 8+ years of experience in Safety, Environmental, Risk Management, or Occupational Health.

  • Proficient knowledge of OSHA regulations and Worker's Compensation Law.

  • Expertise in effectively supervising and leading others, coupled with exceptional influencing abilities.

  • Experience in leading an Emergency Response Team.

  • Knowledge of ISO 14000 / 18000 standards.

  • Familiarity with regulatory/government agencies and their requirements.

  • Understanding of EPA/DNR standards (environmental).

  • Demonstrated success in waste reduction initiatives.

  • Ability to work flexible hours.

  • Strong leadership capabilities, inspiring and guiding others towards achieving shared goals and driving organizational success.

  • Demonstrates a high level of expertise in strategic organizational planning and execution.

  • Excellent reading and comprehension skills for legal interpretation.

  • Demonstrates a customer-centric mindset and a strong commitment to providing exceptional service.

  • Exhibits exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Proficient in the design and delivery of comprehensive training programs, showcasing a talent for developing engaging and impactful learning experiences.
