Student Veterans Resource Coordinator
Position Summary
The Student Veteran Resources Center Coordinator develops and implements programs and services for U.S. military-connected students, faculty, and staff, which includes individuals who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard, Reserve Components, Veterans, and the spouses or dependents of service members or veterans; coordinates administrative and programmatic efforts to lead MSU toward becoming a model for incorporating promising practices for U.S. military-connected students, faculty, and staff; maintains relationships with stakeholders and represents the institution as a student military and veteran identity expert; provides information to prospective students and assists students in their educational pursuits through connections to campus resources, advising, and community building; educates and advocates for the needs of military-connected students; refers students, faculty, and staff to the appropriate on-campus resources, off-campus agencies and/or state and federal programs; assists veterans with certification and pay issues, disseminates information about military and veteran's education entitlement programs and ensures institutional compliance with State and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the administration of veterans' benefits in partnership with the Office of the Registrar and Controller's Office; contributes to the development, execution, and review of programs and services designed to meet unit objectives; coordinates special campus events for military-connected students, faculty, and staff; hires, trains, and supervises VA Work Study students and PAVE advisors; develops and maintains outreach materials, website, and social media communications; promotes awareness, communication, education, and understanding of veterans' issues; acts as a liaison with the SVRC and university committees, task forces, and other similar organizations as needed.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work in Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in veteran education benefits, state, and federal programs and experience developing, implementing, and evaluating educational and outreach programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Written and verbal fluency in foreign language may be required.

Experience with assessment and data collection.
