Position Summary
Michigan State University College of Human Medicine seeks a Fixed Term Assistant Professor (AY) with expertise in statistics for a shared position between the Office of Medical Education Research and Development (OMERAD) and Department of Medicine. The successful candidate will apply and develop statistical models to inform strategic decision-making, improve educational programs, shape policy, and support biomedical research.
OMERAD supports the college's innovative, competency-based Shared Discovery Curriculum through consultation and collaboration with curricular leaders, faculty members, and students. Faculty members engage in scholarship aligned with assigned duties, teach medical students, and participate in committee and administrative service.
The DOM has a broad and growing portfolio of basic, clinical, and translational research, encompassing areas such as occupational and environmental medicine, cardiovascular science, epidemiology, clinical trials, implementation science, and healthcare delivery innovations aimed at addressing health disparities. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, many of our researchers work together with colleagues across various disciplines within Michigan State University, including engineering, communication, kinesiology, and other health sciences colleges. Required Degree
Doctorate -PhD or equivalent degree in statistics, education, or related field.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience as a statistician.
- Strong proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R).
- Demonstrated knowledge of statistical techniques and data analysis.
- Ability to present complex data in clear, concise reports and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of colleagues.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in educational or biomedical statistics.
- Ability to design and implement data collection strategies, including surveys, tests, and questionnaires.
