Job Description
About the Role: In this opportunity as a Services Operator, you will be responsible for reviewing job specifications for material and set-up requirements, performing or delegating/overseeing set-up tasks, monitoring the equipment and product through the job run to ensure a high-quality product, and performing moderately complex troubleshooting related to product or equipment. You will also communicate effectively during shift and at shift hand-off, evaluate the mechanical condition of equipment, complete preventative maintenance involving Maintenance as needed, and use computer-based workflows applications to manage files. Additionally, you will accurately document activities on Tier Boards and in relevant systems (MII, SAP), mark, verify, and tag loads correctly to ensure inventory accuracy, provide work direction to others, actively participate in company safety programs, perform training as needed, meet or exceed established quality and productivity standards utilizing standard work procedures, generate, implement, perform and sustain continuous improvement ideas as well as housekeeping procedures to maintain the work area, participate in project teams as needed, provide back up for other operators to cover absences or breaks, and recommend and implement process improvements.
Responsibilities
Review job specifications for material and set-up requirements
Perform or delegate/oversee set-up tasks
Monitor the equipment and product through the job run to ensure a high-quality product
Perform moderately complex troubleshooting related to product or equipment
Communicate effectively during shift and at shift hand-off
Evaluate mechanical condition of equipment, complete preventative maintenance, involving Maintenance as needed
Use computer-based workflows applications to manage files
Accurately document activities on Tier Boards and in relevant systems (MII, SAP), i.e., material usage, equipment issues, etc.
Accurately mark, verify and tag loads correctly to ensure inventory accuracy
Provide work direction to others, whether direct crew or other individuals in the workstream
Actively participate in company safety programs and contribute to a safe culture
Perform training as needed
Meet or exceed established quality and productivity standards utilizing standard work procedures
Generate, implement, perform and sustain continuous improvement ideas as well as housekeeping procedures to maintain work area
Participate in project teams as needed
Provide back up for other operators to cover absences or breaks
Recommend and implement process improvements
Essential Skills
Experience leading and training others
Experience working in an industrial setting with a wide range of production machinery
Strong mechanical and technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, make decisions and resolve machine issues
Experience with Lean and continuous improvement
Competent with rulers and measurement
Good communication skills
Able to run multiple pieces of equipment
Experience on Perfect Binders with up to 40 station collators, 3-knife trimmers, inline boxing and palletizing
Experience with hard-cover casing-in lines, collating/kitting lines with up to 30 streamfeeder stations, packaging/cartooning lines, mail lines, Aster sewing equipment and hot foil stampers
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and production orders
Can regularly lift at least 5 lbs. above the shoulder as well as push, pull and lift at least 10 lbs occasionally up to 50 lbs
Can regularly stand, walk, crouch, bend, reach and kneel
Can wear Personal Protective Equipment including steel toe shoes and ear protection
Able to pass a background check and drug test, as applicable for the role

Work Environment
This role is based in a large industrial printing and bindery shop. The production crew is close-knit and focused on completing tasks in a timely, efficient, and safe manner to keep production running smoothly. The work culture values curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and active participation. The environment is clean, climate-controlled, and equipped with advanced machinery. Safety is emphasized, with gloves, safety glasses, and other protective equipment provided. Candidates will start on the 2nd or 3rd shift, with opportunities for promotion to the first shift. Steel toe boots are provided, and there is a shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45500.00 - $59000.00/yr.
