Genesis10 IT Security Engineer IV in Eagan, Minnesota

Genesis10 is seeking a IT Security Engineer IV for a contract with our client in Eagan, MN. 100% Remote. Job Description: The main function of a Security engineer is to plan, coordinate, and implement security measures for information systems to regulate access to computer data files and prevent unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure of information. A typical Security engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the computer database. Key Responsibilities: Train staff and users and promote security awareness to ensure system security and to improve server and network efficiency. Review and approve plans to safeguard computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs. Provide direction on when to update virus protection systems. Review and approve the implementation of computer system plans with establishment personnel and outside vendors. Supervise risk assessments and approve the execution of tests of data processing system to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures. Approve the encryption of data transmissions and the building of firewalls to conceal confidential information. Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work independently and manage ones time. Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Strong knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software. Strong knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Strong knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, agency rules and the democratic political process. Strong knowledge of computer development software, such as Cisco Systems, IBM Tivoli Identity Management (TIM), etc. Required Basic Qualifications: Education/Experience: Associate's degree in computer programming or relevant field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. 3+ years experience required. QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICATION SECURITY ENGINEER ROLE The AppSec engineer collaborates with other domain experts to ensure that Information Security concepts and standards are incorporated throughout the DevOps lifecycle. Ideal AppSec Engineer candidate will understand modern software development practices and application security best practices. They will be experienced with security testing tools and methods (SAST/DAST/SCA), common application vulnerabilities (OWASP Top10), threat assessment, and remediation. Experience with multiple coding languages is helpful. Must be familiar with common software development and build tools and runtime environments. 2-3 years experience in application security Additional Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to organize, filter, and report data, produce metrics, and track trends Typical hours 8-5 M-F. The team is scattered across 4 timezones, but we generally operate in Central time. Day to day tasks: coordinate with application development teams to remediate security vulnerabilities, collect and report metrics, manage the remediation lifecycle for SAST/DAST/SCA/Secrets management Compensation: Hourly W2 pay rate $60-65 We have access to additional contract, contract-to-hire, and direct hire positions with various rate ranges.
