The Senior Business Systems Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and define business requirements, transforming them into efficient SQL queries and Power BI dashboards that drive informed decision-making. This role will involve designing, creating, and maintaining reports and dashboards while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of all data presented. The analyst will conduct thorough data analysis to uncover trends, insights, and areas for process optimization, delivering findings through well-crafted visual reports and presentations to key stakeholders. Additionally, the analyst will work with the utility technology team to establish and implement data cleansing strategies, focusing on data validation, enrichment, and standardization.

In addition to managing ongoing projects, the Senior Business Systems Analyst will contribute to the planning and execution of legacy system cleanup efforts, ensuring alignment with established timelines, resource distribution, and key objectives. They will act as the main point of contact for technology projects, fostering effective communication between business teams and technical departments to ensure project success. The role will also involve overseeing any ad hoc or unanticipated projects, ensuring that these initiatives are thoroughly evaluated, planned, and executed with the same level of precision and quality as regular projects.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to gather business requirements and translate them into SQL queries and Power BI dashboards.

  • Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards to support business decision-making.

  • Analyze data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for process improvements.

  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all reports and dashboards.

  • Communicate findings and insights clearly to stakeholders through visual reports and presentations.

  • Collaborate with the utility technology team to develop and implement data cleansing strategies, including data validation, enrichment, and standardization procedures.

  • Participate in the development and enactment of detailed plans for legacy system cleanup, including timelines, resource allocation, and key milestones.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for existing technology projects, facilitating communication between business units and technical teams to address concerns and ensure project success.

  • Manage additional, unexpected projects that arise, ensuring they are assessed, planned, and executed with the same level of attention to detail and quality as ongoing projects.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree Or equivalent in computer science, information technology, or directly related field,

  • Five years of related professional information technology experience.

  • Proficiency in SQL to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from relational databases.

  • Experience with Power BI or another data visualization tool to design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports for data-driven decision-making.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills: Proficient in using complex formulas, pivot tables, macros, and other advanced Excel features.

  • Experience working in a utility organization, with a solid understanding of industry processes and operations.

  • Knowledge of ArcGIS or other geographic information systems (GIS), including the ability to analyze and visualize spatial data to support business decisions.

  • Proficiency in Python, with experience in data manipulation and simple machine learning algorithms
