This position is devoted to providing inventory and warehousing functions and professional procurement and contract administration services to the City. Provides semi-skilled, prescribed work in issuing and tracking inventory of supplies and parts.

Responsible for issuing materials and supplies including uniforms; delivering supplies as assigned; requesting quotes; ordering products; processing payments/requesting payment approval; providing customer service; and controlling inventory.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs warehouse operations by receiving, stocking, ordering, purchasing, and/issuing supplies, equipment, uniforms, and other materials; operates equipment to load and unload materials; delivers supplies; monitors inventory levels; requests quotes or order materials from vendors; and processes payment transactions.

  • Ensures proper working condition of inventory materials, supplies, and equipment; maintains cleanliness assigned work facilities including lockers, workstations, counters and shelves; may test equipment; and performs basic equipment maintenance and cleaning.

  • Prepares, maintains, and/or processes records, logs, forms, purchase orders, invoices, and other documents; enters and updates data; reports supply or materials shortage or damage to higher-level staff; and reviews work for accuracy and completeness.

  • Provides customer service including responding to inquiries from internal and external parties in person, via phone or online systems.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC)

  • One year of related experience.

  • Valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another states driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be able to walk/stand for an8 hour shift.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience with Procurement/purchasing

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
