Reference #: 4563716 THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is currently on the lookout for a skilled Engineering Technician to join their team. As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of entry-level technical tasks and data collection related to Traffic Studies, Safety, and Signing. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will be actively involved in both on-the-job and classroom training to acquire the necessary skills and expertise in the field of traffic management. This will involve learning about various aspects of traffic studies, such as conducting sight distance measurements, speed limit studies, evaluating truck restrictions, hazardous walking routes, and assessing multi-way stop warrants.

Additionally, you will be responsible for inputting, revising, and updating traffic volume data, legal speed limits, and other relevant traffic information into the Department's computer system. This data is crucial for the Traffic Studies Section and plays a key role in the overall management of traffic-related activities.

You will also play a vital role in data collection, analysis, and diagram preparation for both manual and automatic traffic recorder (ATR) counts. This will involve entering and analyzing data, as well as assisting in conducting after-studies for various projects.

Furthermore, you will work closely with your supervisor to coordinate and schedule traffic data collection operations for traffic studies. This may involve managing multiple personnel and overseeing several concurrent locations to ensure the smooth execution of these activities.

Another important aspect of your role will be to assist in the collection of speed limit data, including radar speed data, as part of speed studies. This will require attention to detail and a thorough understanding of the data collection process.

Lastly, you will be responsible for extracting traffic count data from the Central Office mainframe computer. This data will be used for various purposes and will require a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
