Title Sr. IT HR Solutions Architect - Atlanta (/Remote) GA

The opportunity:

The Senior IT HR Technical Architect will report to the Sr. Manager, IT HR Systems, and is responsible for taking a lead role on the design, specification and delivery of HR technology solutions, taking into consideration functionality, data requirements and security, integration, infrastructure and performance. The incumbent will work on the most complex operations support tickets as well as large complex enhancements. In addition to production support, this individual will spend most of their time working on projects, both to continuously enhance current systems and infrastructure, and to deliver new solutions to optimize HR data, process and service delivery. This role is a true combination of business analysis and technical expertise, enhancing the partnership between HR and IT to deliver sound solutions. They are responsible for establishing a strong working relationship with key business functional leaders and extended team members. Using these relationships, they will gain a deep understanding of functional requirements and establish technical specifications to achieve those requirements. This individual has an excellent ability to translate technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders, and in turn, the ability to translate business requirements into stellar functional and technical specifications that development teams can leverage to build solutions (when they don’t build the solution themselves). They will work with cross-functional teams, project managers and other stakeholders to deliver quality solutions on time and in budget, and occasionally will take on Project Management responsibilities for smaller efforts, too.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Deep and "big picture" understanding of HR systems, applications, infrastructure, security, and databases; ability to efficiently adapt to changing technologies and platforms

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of multiple HR functions, their processes and data in order to deliver strong technology consultation and comprehensive solutions

  • Ensure on-time, quality and in-budget delivery of IT HR projects, in alignment with established project plans; define mitigation plans for "at risk" tasks

  • Work across multiple technical and functional disciplines and applications to synthesize conceptual ideas as well as implement technical solutions

  • Advise and support leadership and Program/Project Managers on technical solutions to complex problems

  • Work well within agile, waterfall and hybrid frameworks and make recommendations on the best practice technical delivery methodologies

  • Define and document technical requirements that will effectively deliver the business solution needed

  • Support the establishment of effective test strategies and plans

  • Troubleshoot complex technical and non-technical issues and provide resolution

  • Provide design and development guidance to developers, functional resources and testers

  • Document and review functional and technical specifications to ensure accuracy and alignment with process, infrastructure, security and data needs

  • Create architecture diagrams and presentation materials to communicate designs

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required/Masters Degree preferred

  • 8+ Years of experience with IT HR application development, support and maintenance, including upgrades, troubleshooting, technical design and solutioning (demonstrated experience with the specific applications in the incumbent’s area of responsibility)

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to design and document technical specifications based on functional specifications

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of HR and Security system and technical landscape infrastructure, and hands on experience with integration design and development

  • Preferred: 2+ Years of Human Resources functional experience

  • Good foundational understanding of at least 2 HR functions, their processes and data.

  • Proven ability to work with HR/business partners and IT to define business requirement and technical specifications

  • Excellent ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Proven business relationship management (BRM) skills

  • Professional proficiency with the MS suite of products (Word, Excel, PPT, Visio, Project)

  • Be self-directed, fast-paced, collaborative, results-oriented and able to swiftly adapt to change

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to navigate and work effectively in a dynamic, frequently changing environment

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines at a fast pace.

  • Strong attention to detail
