Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including month and end-year process, general ledger, capital assets reconciliations, fixed asset activity, debt activity.

  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.

  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.

  • Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.

  • Prepare or review accurate accruals at period end, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is available and filed centrally.

  • Post cash receipts and other bank entries daily

  • Prepare the daily working capital.

  • Assist in the preparation of short-term cash forecast.

  • Prepare the borrowing base calculations and certificates.

  • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.

  • Direct the monthly general ledger close process including maintenance of a monthly checklist as well as generation, reconciliation and analysis of corporate accounting reports.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.

  • Prepare the sales tax returns and the personal property tax returns.

  • Participate in audit preparation.

  • Act as back-up for accounts payable, travel expenses, checks, ACH and wire transfer preparations

  • Act as back up for commission calculations

  • Act as back up for healthcare benefit reconciliation

  • Assists with special projects.

    Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

  • Experience in the use of general ledger and ERP systems (Deltek/Cost Point preferred but not required).

  • Solid knowledge of Project accounting in manufacturing environments preferred.

  • Advanced Excel technical abilities

  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations

  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.

  • Able to explain and discuss accounting issues clearly and concisely with non-accounting people.

  • Able to organize and prioritize multiple work streams, tackle complex challenges, and perform to a high standard while still meeting tight deadlines.
