The Cigna Group GIH Business Communications Lead (Business Communications Advisor) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

We’re looking for a strategic and consultative internal and external communications professional to support the high growth Global Individual Health (GIH) segment within Cigna International Health. The heart of the role is creating and implementing communications that help our colleagues build a deep understanding of our strategy and the role they play in enabling it, as well as building a high-performance communications and engagement strategy across a geographically diverse global business unit. For external communications, you will work closely with the GIH CMO to deliver a plan aligned to the marketing strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Comms

  • Develop the internal communication strategy and implement integrated, holistic communications plans, that are connected to our overall mission and business strategies.

  • Partner with business leadership to develop a wide variety of communications for senior leaders and the broader GIH organization, such as presentations, town halls, announcements, key messages, intranet content (stories, blogs, etc.), emails, videos, newsletters, and social media content, among others.

  • Lead and execute a variety of virtual and in-person employee engagement initiatives to increase employee awareness of our strategy, customers, commitment to service experience and customer-centric culture. This could include leadership calls, town halls, reward and recognition campaigns and other employee engagement activities and events.

  • Working with HR, help plan and deliver a coordinated programme of internal communications and engagement activity that continues to support GIH being a great place to work.

  • Partner with our IH and wider segment / region Communications teams to leverage centralised capabilities.

  • Operate as the GIH internal communication representation for x-segment internal communication projects.

  • With clear KPIs to demonstrate ROI of each communication initiative set, use specific data to track progress and make continuous improvements.

  • Build strong relationships with key partners, such as Human Resources.

  • Ensure deadlines are met and appropriate processes are followed to obtain final approvals from subject matter experts, project leaders and compliance/legal team.

External Comms

  • Work with GIH CMO to build an external communication plan to help build awareness and the reputation of GIH in key markets.

  • Devise and execute targeted communications plans for the launch of key projects, collaborations, product launches and brand events.

  • Responsible and / or work with an agency partner to

  • Create press releases and other media material;

  • Place key features across agreed media;

  • Evaluate and manage media requests for interviews;

  • Analyse media outreach achieved with recommendations for even greater success;

  • Help foster meaningful relationships with key media platforms;

  • Manage media list for wider outreach;

  • Media train our internal stakeholders for external engagements.

  • Stay ahead of key industry news and updates as well as competitor activity.

  • Create and manage media guestlists for appropriate events.

  • Collaborate closely with marketing colleagues to help shape specific plans.

  • Generate reports for internal distribution.

  • Manage relevant budgets and ensure that all external communication activities are delivered in line with this.

  • Deputise for the CMO when required and operate as the GIH external communication representation for x-segment.

About you

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field, and at least 5+ years’ experience in a corporate communications role or public relations agency.

  • Deep experience in internal communications, including ability to shape a strategy informed by data and that drives goals and results.

  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail (writing samples required).

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to learn about, and understand, the segment and the complex global environment our teams operate in 24/7/365.

  • Track record of success handling multiple projects.

  • Flair for storytelling, and a media savvy mindset.

  • Collaborative candidate with a passion for corporate affairs that has mastered internal and external stakeholder management.

  • Crisis management communication experience

  • Has an entrepreneurial, growth and ‘can do’ mindset and will be comfortable thinking outside the box.

  • Creativity and the willingness to bring new ideas to the table.

  • Ability to manage multiple requests and flexibility in a fast-paced, complex, ever-changing work environment.

  • Proven ability to work in a team setting.

  • Executive presence for interacting with C-level executives and senior leaders.

  • Tact and discretion to work with employees at all levels, including those in front-line service roles.

  • Willingness to come into the office majority of the time with occasional travel.
