Vertiv Corporation Product Engineer (Electrical) in Dover, Ohio

Job Summary The Product Engineer will support new product development and assist with sustaining engineering for a time after product launch. Acts as technical resource and focal point between R&D and other internal groups, such as product management, sales, application engineering, customer technical support, and manufacturing. Aligns R&D with the needs of the customer and business. Responsibilities: * Understands the customer requirements and application, driving ideas and improvements for new and existing products back to R&D. * Provides technical expertise on assigned product lines to all internal Vertiv functions - product management, sales, application engineering, customer technical support and service, and manufacturing. * Creates and/or reviews engineering new product specifications, ECNs, tests, procedures, user manuals, submittal drawings, and sales literature. * Troubleshoots and determines root-cause of escalated or re-occurring field issues, reporting analysis back to internal teams and, at times, directly back to customer. * Supports manufacturing by answering new line setup questions, approving supply chain part substitutions and deviation procedures. * Leads test technicians and assists lab testing of products. * Works closely with technicians and junior engineers, providing technical expertise and guidance. Requirements: * Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. * 5+ years of electrical engineering, product development, design, repair, or support experience. * Working knowledge in power/electrical engineering; AC and DC power < 50kVA circuits, IGBTs, inverters, rectifiers, microprocessor and sensor interfacing, firmware interfacing, DC batteries, connectors/wire- harnesses, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). * Change management and BOM creation and maintenance preferably in Oracle. * Ability to fluently read and understand component datasheets, electrical schematics, and PCB layouts. * Ability to safely and successfully operate in an electrical testing lab environment. * Familiarity in mechanical design techniques and software human interfaces. * Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) problems quickly and methodically. * Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills. * Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams. * 100% fluent in English, with strong people skills - motivator and conflict resolver.
