Job Posting Summary
The Associate Director of International Programs will provide management and oversight for delivering new educational programs offered by the division to students outside the United States. The Associate Director will have primary responsibility for engaging with partner institutions both inside and outside the US in delivery of classes and support of students, and supporting student success through direct engagement with appropriate academic and administrative divisions at Mercy University. Partner institutions may include accredited and non-accredited academic providers as well as online program managers representing Mercy University interests in defined geographic areas. The Associate Director will coordinate with Mercy University faculty, enrollment management, student affairs, registration, and academic affairs divisions, to insure appropriate oversight of partner programs and compliance with all state and regional accreditation requirements.
The ideal candidate Associate Director of International Programs will be a consummate team player, with experience in working with international educational offerings of non-credit and/or credit-bearing academic programming, and familiarity with US regulations regarding international students. The person must be flexible, take an active interest in all aspects of the project and role, and be able to work independently as well as under close supervision. Occasional international travel may be required. Rapid growth of partnerships and students enrollments in the international arena may lead to significant professional advancement and supervisory responsibilities.
A. Administrative/Technical/Service
Program Management
Directly supervises program managers who have direct responsibility for individual subject areas
Collaborates with the VP to execute new program areas
Assesses program efficacy for both marketability and performance
Manages regularprogram team meetings for both internal and external stakeholders
Identifies opportunities for program expansion
Supports academic and administrative development and implementation of all programs
Administers program budgets in consultation with the VP/GM
Monitors and records program participation and results for individual program initiatives
Works with internal and external evaluators as required, shares results with staff and supervisor, and responds to recommendations for improvement.
Engages directly with students as necessary to support academic success and appropriate utilization of Mercy University resources
Communicates directly with Mercy University faculty and partner organizations to ensure appropriate academic oversight of students and programs
Marketing/Recruitment
In conjunction with the University’s marketing office, coordinates marketing and recruitment activities for new international, programs, liaising with both internal and external marketing teams, and aligning overall strategies with market research.
Ensures that marketing professionals are well-versed in the curricular details and professional outcomes tied to new programs.
General Operational Oversight
Supports subject matter experts, both internal and external, delivering new programs
Engages in a process of continuous operational improvement, incorporating real-time feedback into decisions for program support and implementation.
Develops, implements, and manages internal, project processes to ensure compliance with relevant University and regulatory rules and regulations, including as relate to eligibility, purchasing, equipment inventory, documentation, etc.
Collaboration with Partners
Builds and maintains key relationships with external partners
Works with faculty, staff, and key personnel to keep programs on track and meet deliverables
Collaborates with other Mercy staff and faculty as necessary
Performs other duties or contributes to other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Doctorate degree preferred; Master’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
EXPERIENCES OR SKILLS REQUIRED
Three years of program management experience in international education, online education, or continuing education environments
Demonstrated understanding of international study requirements including visa application processes and CPT/OPT
Demonstrated project management experience
Experience in higher education or online program management (OPM), especially regarding issues related to program development and implementation
Solid research and information gathering skills.
Track record of high professional ethical standards and integrity.
Ability to perform multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Strong administrative and IT skills
Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Foreign language abilities desirable
Knowledge of educational opportunities in developing nations desirable.
Compensation offered will be commensurate with the educational background and work experience of the individual.

The Mercy University Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:
Deferred Compensation Plan
All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the University.
Defined Contribution Plan
Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy University and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.
If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
