Job Posting Summary
Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of University Advisement Strategy and Innovation is responsible for the strategic direction and operational oversight of student advisement and success initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in higher education leadership, student services or student affairs, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive academic environment. The AVP will work closely with other campus units that support student development, academic achievement, and Mercy University's vision, mission, and values to create an exceptional and well-supported student experience, resulting in improved student outcomes, specifically retention and on-time graduation rates. As Mercy approaches its 75th anniversary, the University has implemented a bold set of goals – including doubling the four-year graduation rate. The AVP will be a key contributor to meeting those goals, which will only be accomplished by an unwavering commitment to student success and Mercy’s access mission. To that end, the AVP must strike a balance between traditional counseling and advising and high-level data analysis, innovation, and change management.
The AVP oversees the PACT program, Mercy’s award-winning student support service that pairs full-time, professional mentors with every student at Mercy and offers 360-degree mentoring, academic advising, and referral services. The PACT program has been a key differentiator for Mercy since its inception and has played a significant role in closing achievement gaps fueled by demography and improving student outcomes. The position will also work with the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), a New York State program dedicated to providing a higher education to students that would otherwise be unable to attend a postsecondary educational institution.
The AVP plays a key role on the University’s Enrollment Management Leadership team and is a member of the President’s Cabinet.
