Description
Under general supervision, supervises a moderate sized group of repair workers and others in the maintenance or repair of automotive and other related equipment.
Examples of Duties
Supervises the work of a moderate sized group of repair workers, helpers and others engaged in the servicing, maintenance and repair of automotive and other gasoline-operated equipment including trucks, passenger vehicles and other construction equipment.
Assigns work and provides instructions relative to work orders and repair work.
Inspects repair work in process and upon completion.
Assigns subordinates to maintain and repair units and parts in pumps involving task such as tightening pump rods, refacing pumpseats, fitting keys in pump impellers, grinding valves and checking bearing adjustments in pump barrel.
Ensures that required parts are available.
Reviews records prepared by subordinates.
Prepares requisitions for supplies, materials and parts.
Maintains records such as employee schedules, lubrication of automotive equipment and duties performed and generate reports thereon.
Performs tests on equipment before and after repairing to determine operating condition.
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation or GED with successful completion of coursework in shop and auto repair work.
Four years of experience in assembling, repairing and maintaining automotive equipment including two years of experience in a supervisory capacity.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
• Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
• In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);
- An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;
