Job Description
The Asset Risk Manager will be responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of approaches, tools, and processes used for projecting and managing all valuation models, including but not limited to residual value (RV), maintenance, repair, and tire (MRT) estimates, and fair market valuations (FMV). The Asset Risk Manager will also support the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management process, driving strategic risk initiatives, facilitating risk group meetings and activities, and facilitating internal governance.
Responsibilities
Set residual values based on historical data, internal models, and external market factors to ensure accurate future value estimations.
Oversee, manage, and develop all aspects of asset risk portfolio analytics and pricing, serving as a role model and subject matter expert on asset risk.
Maintain a strong understanding of all technical aspects of quantitative analytics and translate these into actionable insights.
Provide strategic direction to Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams on risk matters.
Collaborate with departments in the development of new products, overseeing potential exposures, and mitigating risks.
Drive empirical and data-driven asset risk practices and analytics across all risk domains.
Manage and develop Quantitative Data Analyst, setting clear goals, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Manage monthly governance deliverables and facilitate the review of all other documentation to ensure relevant committees are aware of current risk-related developments.
Support operating lease team delivery of client-related depreciation requests, non-standard lifecycle cost requests, quotes, equity position analysis, and ad-hoc financial and risk modeling.
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the Asset Risk team, driving higher team productivity.
Review available external and internal industry and economic data to proactively identify trends that could impact the asset risk position.
Create and maintain Asset Risk Management related policies, procedures, and work instructions to comply with applicable requirements.
Essential Skills
Understanding of statistical, economic, financial, and leasing concepts.
Interest in the automotive industry and economic theory.
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear communication and workable solutions.
Experience in setting residual values, sale and leaseback transactions, lease conversion (financial to operating), recalculations, and market value estimations.
Solid understanding of data analytics and modeling, supporting Asset Risk and other Risk Management domains with analytics and quantitative insights.
Proficiency in MS Excel, SAS, or other analytical platforms.
Proficiency in SQL and Python.
Work Environment
This hybrid position is in Schaumburg, IL & operates in a professional office environment. It is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with a hybrid schedule requiring 3 days onsite. No travel is expected for this position. The role will report to the VP of Finance and will have one direct report (a risk analyst).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $133000.00 - $143000.00/yr.
